  1. Mastery Learning Grammar - Version 5.1 - This 32 bit software requires Windows95 and over
  2. two megs of hard drive storage.

  4. I. Program's Purpose:  Mastery Learning Grammar (MLG) includes tutorials and drills which
  5. teach English grammar including: recognizing subjects and verbs; parts of speech; recognizing
  6. simple, complex, compound, and compound/complex sentences; clause types (adverb, adjective,
  7. noun); sentence patterns (subject-verb-direct object, etc.); verbals; capitalization; punctuation;
  8. pronoun/case.  Additionally 160 affixes (parts of words) and 200 vocabulary words are included. 
  9. The vocabulary words come from business, literature, and general studies.  The program is
  10. extremely user friendly.

  12. When MLG was first put on the internet for distribution, the support libraries were not included
  13. because the author assumed many users would already have the necessary support libraries on his
  14. or her computer.  This, however, was not true.  Consequently, the zipped program now includes
  15. all the needed support files.  When you install MLG, if the needed support files are already
  16. on your hard drive, they will not be re-copied; however, if they are not present, they will be
  17. automatically copied to the appropriate directory.  The support files are common to most 
  18. programs created with Microsoft's Visual Basic.

  20. II. How to Install: 1. Download the zipped file to an empty directory of your choice on your hard
  21. drive.  If you downloaded GRAMAR51.ZIP to a directory that has other files in it, then create a
  22. new directory and copy GRAMAR51.ZIP to this directory.  Again, you want this file in an empty
  23. directory.   2. Next, unzip GRAMAR51.ZIP.   3. Use the Windows95 Start menu.  4. Click on
  24. Start.  5. Click on Run.  6. Browse to find the directory where you unzipped GRAMAR51.ZIP. 
  25. 7. Click on Setup.  8. Click on OK.  9.  Click OK a second time (if all your current programs are
  26. unloaded from memory).  10. Click Change Directory.  11. Pick the location where you want
  27. MLG installed.  This directory must be empty.  In the Path Box, type the name of the directory
  28. where you want MLG installed, for example, C:\grammar5.  If the directory does not exist,
  29. Windows95 will create the directory for you.  12. Click on the big button with the computer on it. 
  30. 13. Once MLG is installed, create a shortcut icon.  Once you are in the program, spend some time
  31. reading the Help Screens.  The instructions are simple.

  33. III.  Program Status.  Mastery Learning Grammar, version 5.1, is shareware.  It costs $29.95 per
  34. single user or $295 for a network license.  For examination purposes, you may share this program
  35. with as many people as you wish.  Version 5.1 has several cosmetic improvements over version
  36. 4.0, plus the support libraries have been bundled with the main program, MLG-MENU.EXE.
