WHAT IS THIS PROGRAM?
The goal of this program is to teach writers, of all
ages, four of the basic sentence types. In this case,
"sentence types" refers to style.
The instructional method used is an adaption of the
traditional classic method used to teach style. The
writer copies the Model sentence and then imitates it.
Hopefully, this process will register the sentence form
in the writer's memory--so that he or she can then apply
it to his or her own writing.
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
1. Unzip copye11.zip
2. Double click on Setup.exe
3. The setup program will create a folder named Copy.
If you want to change the location, you may. Simply type
in the path of your choice. For example, you might want
to change the path from C:\Copy to C:\Writing.
HOW TO USE THIS PROGRAM
1. Double click on the icon (copy.exe)
2. On the left hand side of the screen is the Copy Book
part of the program. Use this to copy the Model sentence
and to imitate it. You CANNOT cut/copy and paste with
this program. I've done this purposely. It is important
that you actually type the sentences. There is a button
at the bottom to CLEAR what you have written in
the Copy Book as well as a PRINT button.
3. The right hand side of the screen opens with the
General Instructions. Please read these and follow the
advice given.
4. On the bottom of the right hand side is a NEXT
button. These are on every page. They will cycle you
through the four sentence types. Each page includes two
Models and a scrollable explanation of the sentence type.
5. You can also use the buttons on the Toolbar to move
through the program.
6. The Menu bar allows you to Exit the program and to
learn about the program.
7. The program includes the ability to print to a
printer. This can be useful for teachers and parents
who might want a record of writers efforts.
