============================================================================
This file contains some information about the installation and the correct
functioning of the MCI drivers which are necessary to the program
WinAsks Professional 2.0 to use the following file types:
- .WAV and .MID sounds
- .AVI videos
============================================================================
Contents
--------
1. Drivers for .WAV e .MID sounds
2. Drivers for .AVI video
3. Further information
1) Drivers for .WAV e .MID sounds
-------------------------------
If you have a properly installed sound card, MCI drivers for .WAV and .MID
sounds should be already present on your system. On the contrary try to
play a .WAV and a .MID sound file using Windows Multimedia Player. If you
hear nothing, then check if your sound card is properly installed and, in
case, contact your dealer. Instead if using Multimedia Player you hear the
sound file correctly, while WinAsks Player shows an error message if it
loads a questionnaire containing sound files, then follow instructions
below:
1. In the WIN.INI file placed in the directory \WINDOWS, find section
[Mci Extensions]. Add (if not already present) the following two rows
wav=WaveAudio
mid=Sequencer
2. Restart Windows.
2) Drivers for .AVI videos
------------------------
If you're using Windows 3.x (not Windows 95) to use .AVI videos it's
necessary to have the Microsoft Video for Windows kit installed. This
program can be obtained freely from many fonts (ex. directly from
Microsoft). After installation, if you still have problems follow
instructions below:
1. In the WIN.INI file placed in the directory \WINDOWS, check if the
following row exists (and in case add it):
avi=AVIVideo
2. If you have added it, restart Windows
3) Further information
