Kid Keys is a typing game for Windows 95. Kid Keys teaches keyboard skills to children. It has multiple play levels of increasing difficulty to challenge even adults. A Hall of Fame adds some competitive spirit.
Installation
Unzip the distribution file KdKy9510.zip into a temporary directory or onto a 3 1/2" diskette. Run SETUP.EXE (Click Start, Run, Browse... to find SETUP.EXE in your temporary directory or on the diskette). Alternatively, type d:\path\Setup where d:\path is the name of the temporary directory or disk drive where the diskette is located. Follow the instructions provided by SETUP.EXE to install KidKeys. Once installed you can delete the temporary directory.
If you have WinZip, open KdKy9510.zip by double clicking on it. Use the WinZip Install button to extract the archived files into a temporary directory and run SETUP.EXE. Follow the instructions provided by SETUP.EXE to compelte installation of KidKeys.
Kid Keys requires between 280 KB and 1.4 MB of disk space when installed, depending on previously installed components. Kid Keys requires an additional 2 MB disk space during installation.
The installation program places a shortcut to Kid Keys in the Programs folder on your Start menu. You can use Windows Explorer to move this shortcut to any convenient location (for example, your desktop). Read the Kid Keys Help file to learn how to set Kid Keys up for young children.
Use the Windows 95 Start, Settings, Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs function to remove KidKeys from your system.
License Agreement
Carefully read the following terms and conditions before installing and using KidKeys. Installation and use of indicates Kid Keys acceptance of the terms of the license agreement and warranty.
Shareware Version: Evalutation and Registration
Kid Keys is not free software; it is shareware. TriTech Scientific grants the user a license to use Kid Keys for a thirty (30) day evaluation period and a further thirty (30) day trial period without change. After the expiration of the evaluation and trial periods, payment of the $ 10.00 registration fee is mandatory. Unregistered use of Kid Keys after the evaluation period and trial periods is in violation of international copyright laws.
Shareware Version: Distribution
TriTech Scientific grants permission to make unlimited copies of the distribution files (software and documentation) as long as all files named in the packing list are included in unmodified form. Distribution may be via diskette or electronic means. TriTech prohibits charging or requesting donations for any such copies except for a nominal fee to cover the cost of the distribution medium.
Distribution of Kid Keys with other products (commercial or otherwise) is prohibited unless prior written permission is obtained from TriTech Scientific.
Registered Version
The license key provided by Tritech Scientific upon registering Kid Keys may only be used to register Kid Keys on a single stand-alone computer.
Registering Kid Keys
Kid Keys is shareware. Your registration of the software will encourage further development of the program. Feel free to evaluate the program for a period of up to 60 days. For the first thirty days of the trial period, the program will behave exactly as the registered version. After thirty days, the program will remind the user that the program is under evaluation and should be registered. After the evaluation period has expired, the program will remind the user that the program is shareware and the evaluation period has expired. Play will be limited to the first five levels. Use of the software beyond the trial period violates the license agreement. Support will only be available to registered users.
