  79. Program Description

  81. OWL Simple Business Accounting (SBA) is an easy-to-use program that is
  82. designed to maintain complete and accurate accounting of income and
  83. expenses.  In creating Simple Business Accounting, our objective was to
  84. produce a program that is intuitive and requires no prior knowledge of
  85. accounting.  SBA uses the "single entry" bookkeeping method that is
  86. recommended by the IRS.  This accounting method is easy to use and is
  87. equally suited for small businesses and individuals.

  89. Using SBA, you can produce a variety of expense, income, profit and
  90. general ledger reports. You can define up to 1000 different income and
  91. expense accounts to fully categorize your income and expenses for tax
  92. purposes.

  94. SBA employs the concept of folders where each folder contains income and
  95. expense data that may be reported either separately or in combination.
  96. Thus, Simple Business Accounting may be used for multiple businesses,
  97. multiple divisions within a single business or for both business and
  98. personal accounting.

  100. Simple Business Accounting is linked to OWL's invoicing, sales and client
  101. management program (OASIS) via an import option that transfers income
  102. data from OASIS into Simple Business Accounting.  OASIS provides complete
  103. tracking of sales, customers and receivables.  The combination of OASIS
  104. and Simple Business Accounting provides a complete business management
  105. solution for many small businesses.

  127. To install OWL Simple Business Accounting run "SBASETUP.EXE".  For
  128. example, if SBASETUP.EXE is on a floppy disk in the A: Drive
  129.  
  130. - From the Windows 95 Start menu, choose Run. - In the Run dialog box,
  131. type "a:\sbasetup.exe" and choose OK.
  132.  
  133. The setup program offers the following installation options:
  134.  
  135. Installation Directory?  If you already have a copy of SBA on your hard
  136. disk, then choose the directory where it is presently installed.  The
  137. default is C:\OWL_SB.
  138.  
  139. Backup Replaced Files?:  Select "Yes" if you would like the setup program
  140. to make backup copies of all files that are replaced during the
  141. installation.
  142.  
  143. Standard or Upgrade Installation?  If you are installing to the same
  144. drive and directory where SBA was previously installed then choose the
  145. Upgrade Installation option.  This will prevent your existing data files
  146. from being overwritten.

  148. The setup program creates a program group named "OWL Business Apps" with
  149. icons for Simple Business Accounting (SB Accounting), the user's guide
  150. (SB Accounting Help), and the Readme file (SB ReadMe).

  152. RUNNING THE PROGRAM

  154. To run SBA click on the Start menu and choose Programs - Simple Business
  155. - SB Accounting..

  157. The data files shipped with the program contain sample data which is
  158. provided to help you become familiar with the various options and
  159. capabilities of the program.  The sample data covers calendar years 1997
  160. and 1998.  The Getting Started section of the User's Guide contains a
  161. step-by-step guide to getting acquainted with SBA.
