  15.            The key to successful brewing lies in keeping good
  16.       records of each batch!  Like most, I tend to learn from my
  17.       experiences (good and bad).  My weak point has always been
  18.       in locating the scraps of paper where I invariably kept my
  19.       brewing notes.
  20.  
  21.            This was the inspiration for SUDS - the brewers
  22.       cookbook and log program.  From a simple attempt to
  23.       coordinate some recipe and log notes, SUDS turned into a
  24.       year-long project and has resulted in an extremely
  25.       comprehensive brewer's program.
  26.  
  27.       SUDS includes the following features:
  28.       o    DBASE III compatible recipe and log files which can be
  29.            browsed by any utility capable of viewing DBASE III
  30.            file formats.
  31.       o    Multi-windowing editor featuring undo, full cut and
  32.            paste capability between windows, mouse support and
  33.            WordStar key-bindings.
  34.       o    Ability to import and export standard ASCII text files
  35.            to and from the SUDS recipe database allowing recipes
  36.            to be shared with SUDS and non-SUDS brewers.
  37.       o    Ability to import and export formatted SUDS SXF-files
  38.            allowing you to share your recipes easily with other
  39.            SUDS users.
  40.       o    Ability to search recipes by category, alcohol content, gravities and/or by
  41.            text contents.
  42.       o    Recipe and log printing and reporting capabilities.
  43.       o    Ability to add recipes from several "templates" for
  44.            most popular beer styles (great for beginning brewers!)
  45.       o    Categorization of recipes by type (ie Pale Ale, Stout
  46.            and any categories you may have defined)
  47.       o    Built-in pop-up calculator to help with calculations.
  48.       o    Built-in pop-up calendar
  49.       o    Hop-IBU spreadsheet to calculate hop IBUs for beer
  50.            batches.

  53.       What's new in SUDS 2.0?
  54.  
  55.       o    Improved data validation when entering recipe and 
  56.            log information.
  57.       o    Added robust Recipe query function allowing you to
  58.            selectively "filter" recipes by desired gravity 
  59.            ranges, alcohol content and/or text contents.
  60.       o    Added "auto-indent" feature to editors in SUDS making
  61.            recipe entry easier.
  62.       o    Minor speed enhancements.

  65.       SUDS is not, nor has it ever been free software or "Public
  66.       Domain".  SUDS is being distributed as shareware and
  67.       continued use beyond the 30-day trial period is prohibited.

  69.       Unlike a new recipe, SUDS is a no-lose proposition!  You're
  70.       free to try out SUDS for a 30 day period after which you can
  71.       pay the nominal $20 registration fee if you are satisfied.

  73.       If you register before 12/31/93 and include one of your own
  74.       recipes to include in future releases of SUDS, you can 
  75.       register your copy for $15!  Your name, of course, will be 
  76.       included on the recipe.

  78.       Because SUDS is distributed as shareware, you are strongly
  79.       encouraged to share SUDS with other brewers.  I would ask
  80.       only that if you do use the program, you pay the
  81.       registration fee.  Shareware only works as well as it is
  82.       supported and this helps keep software prices reasonable!

  84.       The support for SUDS will help determine whether or not it
  85.       will continue to be released as shareware.

  87.       I hope that with your comments and suggestions that SUDS 
  88.       will continue to be enhanced.

  90.       Hardware requirements - SUDS will run on any IBM compatible
  91.       PC with at least 640K of memory and a hard disk.  A mouse,
  92.       though not required, is strongly recommended.

  94.       Full permission is hereby granted to redistribute SUDS in its
  95.       entirety free of charge provided the above conditions are met.  
  96.       SUDS may be freely uploaded to any electronic BBS's or libraries.  
  97.       SUDS may also be distributed via shareware libraries provided 
  98.       that the diskette cost does not exceed $15.

  100.       If you wish to avoid the download charges for SUDS (230K), 
  101.       you may pre-register your copy by sending payment along with
  102.       a request for the latest version and I will send you the most
  103.       recent release on diskette (please specify diskette type
  104.       and density).

  110.       Effective immediately!  SUDS version 2.0 (see file SUDS20.EXE)
  111.       and SUDSW version 2.0 (see file SUDW20.EXE) may be registered
  112.       ONLINE through Compu-Serve.  The fee is automatically billed
  113.       to your Compuserve account!

  115.       To register either product, type GO SWREG and select option 1
