1. System Requirements

Absolute Minimum:
386 DX, 4 MB RAM, VGA display, Windows 3.1
Using this configuration the Screensaver will operate very slowly and will lose visual impact.
Recommended Minimum:
486 SX 8 MB RAM, SVGA 800X600X256 display, Windows 3.11
This Screensaver was created on:
Pentium, 20 MB RAM, SVGA 800X600X256 display, Windows 95.
And it works like a dream!

2. Installing the Screensaver

1) Unzip the STONESCR.ZIP file to an empty directory
2) Double click on the INSTALL.EXE file from within File Manager (Win 3.XX) or Explorer (Win 95).
3) Follow the on screen instructions which will ask you to install the Screensaver to a created directory.
The default is C:\STONESCR but it is best to install to C:\WINDOWS\STONESCR
4) At this point the Screensaver is installed and ready to use.
Note: Don't forget to make a copy of the STONESCR.ZIP file onto a floppy just in case.

3. Configuring the Screensaver

Though the Screensaver will work with both Win 3.XX and Win 95, the way in which they are configured is slightly different and will be dealt with separately.
Windows 3.XX
1) From Program Manager, double click on your Main Group and then Control Panel.
2) Select Desktop and then scroll down to through the list of installed screensavers until you see the word STONESCR.
3) Select this and then choose Setup.
4) From here you will be able to include passwords if required and time lapses.
5) Choose OK and close Control Panel.
6) At this point the Screensaver is configured for use.
Windows 95
1) Right click on the desktop and select Properties.
2) Select the Screensaver tab and scroll down through the list of installed screensavers until you see the word STONESCR.
3) Select this and then choose Settings.
4) From here you will be able to include passwords if required and time lapses.
5) Choose OK and close Display Properties box.
6) At this point the Screensaver is configured for use.

4. Removing the Screensaver
--------------------------------------- :-)
In the unlikely event that you decide to remove this excellent screensaver, the procedure is as follows:
1) From File Manager (Win 3.XX) Explorer (Win 95), select your Windows directory
2) Locate the files STONESCR.SCR and STONESCR.CFG then delete them.
3) Locate the directory in which you installed the screensaver files and delete it
The screensaver is now removed from your system.

5. Registering the Screensaver
--------------------------------------- :-)
As a means to help us ascertain the extent to which the Screensaver is being used, you are asked to complete the registration section at the end of this document.
In return you will receive free updates. Remember, this Screensaver is
STONEWARE (see below). In other words, it is free so don't worry about being asked for credit card details. Think of registration as a courtesy rather than a chore.
Once you have completed the form you have two options:
1. E-mail the form to us (the best)
2. Snail mail the form to us

6. Legal Issues

This software is STONEWARE. That is, you are free to use it and distribute it to any Rolling Stones fan you know. The only conditions pertaining to the use of this software are that:
* When distributing the Screensaver, all the original files (including this one) must be included.
* This program must not be used as part of a larger commercial program without permission.
* No money can ever change hands in relation to the distribution of this program.

7. About This Program
--------------------------------------- :-)
The Rolling Stones Screensaver program which you have before you is the result of on-line Glimmer talks with a number of the good folks who reside at the Voodoo Lounge. The program took several months to write and test and is very much a labour of love.
During the writing of the program we had hoped to include a number of extra features such as an 'on this day in Stones history' screen which would pop-up from time to time. In the end we were able to get the extra features to work with USA date formats but not with some others. So, it was decided to put these extra 'bits n' bobs' on hold till the next version (more reasons for registering!).
If you can think of any extra features that should be in the definitive Rolling Stones Screensaver, then let us know and they will become a reality for us all.

First of all, many thanks for deciding to register!
To keep it simple just complete the details below
and then do one of the following:
1. Select this section (9) of the readme.txt file.
2. Then from your Edit Menu select Copy.
3. Open your E-mail Program and Paste the contents of the clipboard
into the body of a message.
4. Address the message to: concept@iol.ie
5. Send it off with your next batch of mail
