  9. Welcome to my DOOM "home movie" created using the -record control line option
  10. in DOOM.  These demos were created using the Shareware 1.0 version of DOOM.
  11. The first two levels were played at ultra-violence level, and all the others
  12. were done at the standard level of difficulty.  This is because it seems the
  13. demo feature always starts out with the default weapon- just a pistol.  Even
  14. if you use the "cheat keys" to get full weapons and ammo, this change is
  15. not recorded in the demo and you will still have only a pistol.  (I found
  16. this out the hard way after recording a number of levels only to discover
  17. that in the film I was killed within a matter of seconds.)  It appears there
  18. is no weapons data stored in the demo file so there may not be a way to get
  19. around this problem at this point.

  21. Also, these levels were played on a 486DX2-66 and I am not sure if the
  22. machine the demos are recorded on effects their playback on other
  23. machines...  (I don't expect so, since Id probably used this feature to
  24. record the demos that come with the game.)  If you have problems, contact

  27. TOUR OF DOOM will take you through all the levels, including the secret level
  28. and the boss level.  I didn't bother to get to every single secret door but I
  29. think the majority of them are there.  I also discovered an interesting way
  30. to complete the boss level this time around.  It can be BENEFICIAL (!) to get
  31. the Minotaurs off the platform...

  33. To run the tour, just copy all of the enclosed files to your DOOM directory
  34. and then run the TOUR.BAT batch file.  To run an individual level, type
  35. the following from your DOOM directory:

  37. DOOM -DEVPARM -PLAYDEMO TRSECRET
  38.  
  39. The last item (TRSECRET in y example) is the name of the specific demo you want
  40. to run, in this case the secret level.  Levels one through seven are named
  41. accordingly.  Level eight is the boss level- level nine is the secret level.
