  1. Having problems with DOOM 1.2 serial?  
  2. I tried several modems and config
  3. urations.  The below init string seemed 
  4. to provide the most consistent results 
  5. across the widest number of modems.  DOOM 
  6. requires a 9600 bps connect speed.  
  7. A 2400 baud modem won't work.  There are
  8. some utilities which claim to allow 14.4 
  9. connect speeds, but I have not been able 
  10. to get the modems to respond properly after 
  11. using them. (I prefer to wait for an official 
  12. patch from ID).
