ECHO ever build, TOTAL WAR I. If it were not for the help of these people, I
ECHO would have given up a long time ago (in July) on making my own DOOM levels.
ECHO The patience from my annoying repetition of questions and multiple postings
ECHO on the ID SOFTWARE CONFRENCE, had made it possible for me to sucessfully
ECHO build my own levels. My first one was real bad. So bad, it would make EVERY
ECHO first-build level you ever saw look professional. It was that bad, but the
ECHO second one was much better (REoL TOUGH: Hell on Earth Interpretation). From
ECHO the third one (REoL TOUGH: Satan's Castle) on, REoL TOUGH became one of the
ECHO dominant level manufacturing labels in the world. Now, REoL TOUGH has a
ECHO stranglehold on any network of BBS these levels are put on (by me). REoL
ECHO TOUGH has also produced so much competition that people are now building
ECHO their levels tougher, and using more complex designs and realistic lighting
ECHO down to the shaddowing.

ECHO This game is a mini episode containing (9) levels of the unexplored
ECHO Wolfenstein castle, 2 extras are SECRET!* These levels use regular DOOM II
ECHO graphics, and, of course, the Wolfenstein set that came with DOOM II!
ECHO ALSO, since the DOOM II enemies are tougher, there is no need for 1,000
ECHO enemies in a single level, unlike TOTAL WARs for DOOM! GOOD LUCK!

ECHO This game can be played in all modes. In 1 or multi-player games, you'll
ECHO go at the unexplored sections of Castle Wolfenstein against some of the
ECHO HARDEST enemies you'll ever face! No need for 100 enemies here. Just ONE
ECHO could do you in on a level (of course, there are more)!
ECHO In Deathmatch, you and up to four Doomheads will duke it out (or blow
ECHO each other to kingdom come) to be the only survivor. Are you that person?

ECHO ABOUT DEATHMATCH: Although I only have a 2400 for a modem, I have done some
ECHO research about Deathmatch, and how a slight majority of these Doomheads are
ECHO upset as to the easy Deathmatch levels made by other authors, and the very
ECHO small PWADS which some happen to be. To make EVERYONE happy, some of the
ECHO DEATHMATCH levels will be monster infested (with the exception of the areas
ECHO in which you need to start), and the other ones are monster free. All will
ECHO have to WORK to complete the levels. Sometimes you may want to help out
ECHO your fellow Doomhead(s) if they are being attacked by tough mosters. After
ECHO all, don't YOU want to be the one to kill off your friend(s)?

ECHO At the DOOM 2 prompt, type: DOOM2 -FILE REoLWOLF.WAD

ECHO CPU REQUIREMENTS: You will need a 486 pc of at least 20MHz or
ECHO better to play DOOM II, since the engine is slower than DOOM.
ECHO A 386 can play this, but I would not count on it being all to

ECHO REoL TOUGH VERY POPULAR, ESPECIALLY IN FRANCE!

ECHO The REoL TOUGH series of DOOM levels have done an outstanding job when
ECHO it comes to meeting the expectations of fellow Doomheads from all across
ECHO the world. To think, it all starts here in Leominster Massachusetts (USA).
ECHO REoL TOUGH levels offer well constructed archetecture with usually
ECHO just the right amount of monsters to make life horrible. For those of you
ECHO who like a rediculous number of daemons coming at you all at once, there
ECHO always is the REoL TOUGH:TOTAL WAR series for DOOM. All you need is wit,
ECHO skill, and a Pentium (just about).
ECHO In the USA, as of now, one of the most popular DOOM levels was the
ECHO second official release ever, SATAN'S CASTLE. It was only my third level.
ECHO There are plans to repair and fix up TOTAL WAR I, since problems with
ECHO the file ended up failing continuity checks on BBS systems.
ECHO In France, mostly the TOTAL WAR levels are dominant, as was the case
ECHO for France's Novemer issue of the world's top 40 DOOM levels on CD-ROM,
ECHO taking in four of the 40 spots available!
ECHO In Canada, SATAN'S CASTLE and ST. LUCIFER'S CHURCH are as hot as a
ECHO firestorm. It's one of the only levels where nearly every member of some
ECHO BBS networks has at least ONE of these.

ECHO ing on this since November 2'nd, and a lot of hard work from everyone who
ECHO was involved in some form to make REoL TOUGH 2: GUERILLA WAR I: Wolfen-
ECHO Steined! the best mini-episode EVER to be released for DOOM II!

ECHO STORY:
ECHO.
ECHO A long time ago, during that fateful summer night in 1992, you went
ECHO through and destroyed the dungeons and buildings in Castle Wolfenstein.
ECHO You leave knowing Hitler's reign of terror is no more!
ECHO After a few battles along the way, you get another call from Colonel
ECHO Sanders from the Pentagon. Oh boy, I bet you have yet another mission...
ECHO You were debriefed about Castle Wolfenstein in the hills of Germany.
ECHO After you single-handedly destroyed Hitler and his forces, the Germans
ECHO fixed up the castle, and turned it into a tourist attraction to remember
ECHO those poor Jewish (and other) souls that died in the Holocaust during
ECHO World War II. It was heard that a custodian heard some weird noises com-
ECHO ing from the walls of the castle. This wasn't something that was there,
ECHO but a fairly recent event. A few weeks later, during opening hours, one
ECHO of the walls broke loose, and daemons from Hell, as well as a few other
ECHO weirdos, came crashing through the wall! Not many more followed their
ECHO path, but it does tell you, and the world something. There's more to
ECHO.

ECHO Castle Wolfenstein than you originally thought! You, and up to four of
ECHO your friends were called in by the U.N. to search the REST of the castle!
ECHO Your family, your country, Germany, and the rest of the world are be-
ECHO hind you (and your pals) one-hundred percent!

ECHO As the usual REoL TOUGH guideline, you need not find any secrets in
ECHO order to find your way out! Don't think you HAVE to find secrets in order
ECHO to finish a level, although you may find some useful stuff....

ECHO BEFORE you see the descriptions of each level, you should know that the
ECHO secrets, even with the all-map cheat enabled, will NOT show! Hey, just
ECHO because I did this in DOOM doesn't mean I won't do this in DOOM II!

ECHO NOTE: Unless they are in plain sight, all secrets will NOT show on the
ECHO map, including the use of the all-map cheat code!

ECHO ----- Level 1: The Unknown Entrance -----
ECHO --------------------------------------------------------------------------
ECHO Hmmm..... almost looks like the original entryway to the original
ECHO Wolfenstein castle, but as you open the first door, it's all different!
ECHO This area does look a lot like Wolfenstein, with better use of Wolf's
ECHO graphics. It's not very huge, but holds a lot of tough suprises, and a lot
ECHO of "puzzles" to solve!
ECHO --------------------------------------------------------------------------
ECHO PLAYING TIPS:
ECHO.
ECHO (1) Looks simple, doesn't it? Well, it's not! There are quite a few tough
ECHO enemies in here (already?). Proceed with CAUTION!
ECHO.
ECHO (2) Inside each small room (non-secret areas) there is a switch that will
ECHO open up the next area to be explored, or another way to gain access
ECHO into some other area.
ECHO.
ECHO (3) There's a room with many crates inside it. Visit this room every now
ECHO and then, because some crates act as partitions, or switches!
ECHO.

ECHO (4) Whatever you do, don't become too distracted and fall into the pit of
ECHO toxic waste!

ECHO (5) HEY! Get that coffee away from the keyboard! OOPS...Too late!

ECHO ----- Level 2: Wolfenstein Theatre -----

ECHO You go up a level and enter what apears to be a small theater where
ECHO Hitler's men put on shows. Well, daemons and weirdos from Hell want to
ECHO present a show for you, but I am sure you will not be all too happy about
ECHO the presentation!

ECHO PLAYING TIPS:
ECHO.
ECHO (1) Like secrets, some rooms are invisible on the map. These are just for
ECHO the element of suprise as you search the areas they are in.
ECHO.
ECHO (2) To open the curtain, walk up to it. Simple, isn't it?
ECHO.
ECHO (3) In the dressing rooms, you'll see the Hall of Mirrors effect. This is
ECHO done on PURPOSE, since they are suposed to represent mirrors.

ECHO ----- Level 3: The Dungeon -----
ECHO -------------------------------------------------------------------------
ECHO You gain access to the first teleporter and are taken down to a dark,
ECHO dingy basement of sorts, crawling with cockroaches and snakes, known as
ECHO The Dungeon. Hmm..., I wonder why it's called a dungeon? I bet it has no-
ECHO thing to do with those people hanging on the ceiling....

ECHO PLAYING TIPS:
ECHO.
ECHO (1) Be careful when you walk through the dungeon. There are (nearly) dead
ECHO bodies hanging on the ceiling, some of these resist your path of mob-
ECHO ility. Try to stay away from the edges when fighting enemies to avoid
ECHO being trapped!
ECHO.
ECHO (2) After taking the lift up to the "courtyard", you'll need to hit the
ECHO switch on your right to activate the rising floor to get to the other
ECHO side. I'd be careful when you approach the end of this floor.
ECHO.

ECHO (3) Will you look at that? The dungeon leads into a cavern! It's lit by
ECHO many lights on the ceiling, and by the river of lava. I wouldn't try
ECHO to cross through it unless you REALLY need to.
ECHO.
ECHO (4) When you grab the red key, a door in the cavern will open. Look for
ECHO it, and look out!
ECHO.
ECHO (5) To take the lift back up, either run through the river where the
ECHO lift is, or press the spacebar up against it.
ECHO.
ECHO (6) 2 + 2 / 0 = 5 It does! A Pentium told me so!

ECHO ----- Level 4: Hitler's Offices -----
ECHO -------------------------------------------------------------------------
ECHO Going up once again you are now in Hitler's Offices. In here, there's
ECHO offices, a breezeway, and war rooms throughout this entire level. You
ECHO need to gain access into a few rooms via switches, all needed switches
ECHO are NOT within secret areas.
ECHO -------------------------------------------------------------------------
ECHO PLAYING TIPS:
ECHO.
ECHO (1) Hope you are fast! Just like the last level, you will have to start
ECHO shooting right away! Of course you can choose not to, but I do not
ECHO think that you are ready to sing with the Angel choir quite yet!
ECHO.
ECHO (2) Hmmm. Seems real easy. ANOTHER SINCH! ...NOT! The offices are teaming
ECHO up with the tougher hoodlums from Hell! Damned those revenants!
ECHO.

ECHO (3) This level requires SEQUENTIAL STEPS to get towards the end. You
ECHO snooze, YOU LOSE! RUN around and see what door opened when you hit
ECHO switches in the main corridor! Of course, there are multiple paths
ECHO you can go to at any time beyond the main corridor.
ECHO.
ECHO (4) THE BIG WAR ROOM: It's dark, and when you enter, it gets darker.
ECHO You will notice very little change in the brightness though.
ECHO.
ECHO (5) THE BIG WAR ROOM: Of course you'll know where it is, once you hit
ECHO the light switch! Hey, You're IN IT NOW! Just look at the exact
ECHO replica (almost down to the colors) of the Nazi flag on the floor!
ECHO.
ECHO (6) Expect a nasty suprise at the exit elevator. Heh, Heh, Heh!

ECHO ----- Level 5: Twisting Tunnels -----
ECHO -------------------------------------------------------------------------
ECHO You're on the lowest level(s) of the hidden parts of the castle, well,
ECHO you're underneath, in a hidden weapons storage area! Oh boy, AMMO!
ECHO The tunnels warp and twist as you go, and pits with multiple levels
ECHO meaning multiple tunnels. All are lit poorly by the lights above. At the
ECHO end, you'll need your wonderful flashlight to go exploring a well hidden
ECHO underground Intelligence Base from Hell!
ECHO -------------------------------------------------------------------------
ECHO PLAYING TIPS:
ECHO.
ECHO (1) Lots of weaponry in the first set of underground tunnels. GET THEM!
ECHO.
ECHO (2) Please note that it's dark in most of this level, so keep an eye and
ECHO a good ear out for those baddies!
ECHO.
ECHO (3) Beware and be aware of those "suprises" that are found in some parts
ECHO of this area! Scout's motto: BE PREPARED!
ECHO.

ECHO (4) If you enter the "suprise" room near the red door, be careful when
ECHO you walk over a ceartain part of a ceartian structure.
ECHO.
ECHO (5) When you grab the yellow key, you'll notice a jump over one of the
ECHO lava pits you will HAVE to make! Don't worry. You're given enough run-
ECHO space to easily make it. You may have seen it when you got the blue
ECHO key! It's a 1-way jump (tested. Proven!).

ECHO ----- Level 6: Underground World of Hell -----
ECHO -------------------------------------------------------------------------
ECHO You're now 100 feet below the tunnels, and without your flashlight, it
ECHO would be pitch dark! That will not help you all to much down here, but at
ECHO least you'll sort of see where you are! You're not used to only seeing
ECHO about 50 to 100 feet in front of you, huh?
ECHO -------------------------------------------------------------------------
ECHO PLAYING TIPS:
ECHO.
ECHO (1) All I can say at the start is GOOD LUCK! There are 4 buildings here,
ECHO and each is open in a way that the enemies inside will AMBUSH you,
ECHO once you are noticed!
ECHO.
ECHO (2) As stated above, IT'S DARK! PLEASE keep an eye on the ground! If you
ECHO don't you may fall into the toxic waste river, and there's no way out!
ECHO.
ECHO (3) There is one secret here that will light up all (but one) major com-
ECHO ponents of this area. Please note that the switch for the one that is
ECHO not lit is not hidden away.
ECHO.

ECHO (4) Also hidden is a MEGA-SPHERE used to get to the big secret in this
ECHO level, You'll need your ROCKET LAUNCHER after to....
ECHO.
ECHO (5) When all is done, and you're going to exit, you'll be bombarded! Keep
ECHO an eye out behind you!

ECHO ----- Level 7: Modernized Wolfenstein -----
ECHO -------------------------------------------------------------------------
ECHO Even though the United Areospace Corporation (UAC) needed to set up
ECHO base in Castle Wolfenstein, they are dumb enough to not know that here on
ECHO Earth, we like to PRESERVE the ORRIGINAL appearances of historic places!
ECHO And what good it did them! The daemons took over the place, and their
ECHO base is now over run by the evil creatures! Well, you know what to do!
ECHO -------------------------------------------------------------------------
ECHO PLAYING TIPS:
ECHO.
ECHO (1) The first room you'll enter is a nasty one! Walk onto one of the
ECHO raised platforms in this room to open an "escape hatch". Chances are,
ECHO you will NEED IT! (Note how the walls of the building extend farther
ECHO than the outer retainer walls outside? Also note that the retainer
ECHO wall has DEPTH. Why is it that id and PWAD builders can not seem to do
ECHO this? Maybe I know something that everyone doesn't!)

ECHO (2) Speaking of raised platforms, you'll make this even BETTER if you de-
ECHO cide to walk over the ones with upside-down crosses over them!
ECHO.
ECHO (3) You'll have to be careful in the modernized computer room! You don't
ECHO take it slow, you'll soon regret that you didn't!
ECHO.
ECHO (4) When you get to the exit, another suprise!

ECHO ----- Level 8: The Big Cave -----
ECHO -------------------------------------------------------------------------
ECHO Looks like the only thing separating you from the exit, and the final
ECHO challenge is a giant cave full of labrynths and corridors. You will also
ECHO find out that there's quite a drop from where you're standing! You will
ECHO have to take the plunge sometime durring the course of the adventure!

ECHO PLAYING TIPS:
ECHO.
ECHO (1) This one is pure MURDER! Better have your wits in working order, esp-
ECHO ecially at the beginning!
ECHO.
ECHO (2) After you teleport to area #2, you'll see four doors. Ready for a su-

ECHO (3) In this area, you'll open a door that overlooks a small building in-
ECHO the deep depths of the giant lava pool. Jump into the building, and
ECHO get ready for a brawl with either a HELL KNIGHT, or BARRON OF HELL!
ECHO Please note that the quarters may be too small to fight it. There IS a
ECHO logical aproach to defeat it (hint: "the plunge").
ECHO.
ECHO (4) You'll teleport to a narrow room facing a switch. In order to survive
ECHO your next task, HIT IT! The caged rooms in the center of the gaint
ECHO lava pits will have a shield blocking them, so you'll be able to walk
ECHO your way across the ballance beam. OH WHAT FUN! Once you make it
ECHO accross (it IS possible, or I wouldn't have it here), the protective
ECHO shields will go back up into the ceiling.
ECHO.
ECHO (5) You're in a room with a bunch of Imps on the upper level. When you
ECHO shoot, SUPRISE (this one IS to somewhat worry about)!
ECHO.

ECHO (6) You'll then NEED to hit the switch behind the lift. You can't go on
ECHO if you don't!
ECHO.
ECHO (7) You'll teleport back to the starting point, but a rising platform
ECHO will let you walk to the center of the giant lava pools.
ECHO.
ECHO (8) ARE YOU GREEDY? This area will test your greed. Look at all the good
ECHO stuff behind the railings! Wheter you get them or not depends on you!
ECHO.
ECHO (9) Notice the RED ARROW on the floor? You read in the discription that
ECHO you'd have to take "the plunge" sometime durring the adventure in the
ECHO caves! Please note that you'll need to RUN to make it!
ECHO.
ECHO (10) Time to exit. Suprise. Ho-hum.

ECHO This is it! This is for all the marbles! You gotta' win this one!
ECHO Remember the TOTAL WAR series for DOOM? Well, it's not going to have a
ECHO ridiculous amount of enemies coming at you (a mere 50 perhaps), you go
ECHO through little buildings finding all the health and ammo you will need,
ECHO along with other things! You then can gain access into the final struct-
ECHO ure, where the final enemy (and more) awaits....

ECHO PLAYING TIPS

ECHO (1) Wow! Look at all the pretty enemies! Duck behind some of the pillars
ECHO to avoid hits!
ECHO.
ECHO (2) Hey, who does your interior decorating?
ECHO.
ECHO (3) You thought John's Head on a Stick is tough, you should see this ver-
ECHO sion! The head isn't even IN THE BUILDING! He knows you are here to
ECHO take back Castle Wolfenstein!

ECHO (4) Speaking of the final boss, there are many enemies "hidden" behind
ECHO the giant head, and on Ultra-violence and Nightmare, the head will not
ECHO spit out one cube, but TWO CUBES AT A TIME! You know what these cubes
ECHO hold, do you?
ECHO.
ECHO (5) In front of the giant head is a raised platform. If you walk across
ECHO the northwest CORNER (more to the north), the platform will rise. You
ECHO WILL need this platform to nail the Arch-Villes inside the center of
ECHO the head!
ECHO.
ECHO (6) to get behind the head, you'll have to kill the enemies behind it,
ECHO and hit the switches to provide access to other parts of the head.
ECHO They are NOT hidden. (These are teleporters outside the building. One
ECHO will open up when (or before) you start fighting. BE WARNED, you'll
ECHO HAVE to kill EVERYTHING in the head and antlers first, or it's good
ECHO night for you!)

ECHO (7) Once you make it to John Carmack's Head on a Stick, give it a good
ECHO beating! When you defeat him, the building behind you will explode.
ECHO TO SURVIVE THE EXPLOSION, stay in front of John's head, and DO NOT
ECHO HEAD BACK INTO THE BUILDING! If you are closer to the outside corners,
ECHO head to the nearest corner and DON'T MOVE! If you get killed, you'll
ECHO start level 10 with 100% health, and a mere pistol with 50 rounds.

ECHO There are also two secret levels*. Level 31 being "O" WHAT A NIGHTMARE,
ECHO and 32 being DEATH VALLEY. Once you're done the secret level(s), you'll
ECHO be thrown into level 16, THE SUBURBS, back to the regular DOOM II world.
ECHO.
ECHO * Due to a flaw in the DOOM 2 engine (unless it was intended), the secret
ECHO levels are NOT accessable in the mini-episode. I tried to do that, but
ECHO the secret level switches and teleports throw you back to level 1 in-
ECHO stead. You'll either have to WARP there, or find the secret exit tele-
ECHO porter in level 15, INDUSTRIAL ZONE. These are therefore, an added bo-
ECHO nus to the REoL TOUGH 2 PROJECT.

ECHO Known "Boo-boo's":

ECHO (1) 22 years old and I'm still getting zits! Shouldn't this be over?

ECHO (2) LEVEL 9, The Boss: If you activated the lift in front of the giant
ECHO head, even when it's up all the way, the cubes the head spits out
ECHO will "jump" onto the platform and return to it's orriginal track of
ECHO motion. I guess these have no clipping.

ECHO (3) LEVEL 3, God these internal nodebuilders suck! You may notice in
ECHO quite a few places in the cavern where the bends in the lava river
ECHO seem to pull themselves apart (HOM). If a seprate nodebuilder is ever
ECHO made for DOOM II, this wouldn't exist. WHERE ARE YOU COLLIN REED???!!
ECHO.
ECHO (4) LEVEL 8, THE SHIELDS: The return of the bad nodebuilder's reign of
ECHO destruction! If you walk up to the one on the right, it will turn in-
ECHO to HOM. You won't see the shields up close, unless you do something
ECHO that you shouldn't do (CHEATER)!
ECHO.

ECHO (5) LEVEL 8, BEHIND LEFT SHIELD: #%@*!&$ nodebuilder! When the shields
ECHO are back in the raised position, the left cage room gets "pulled
ECHO apart", like the lava river in level 3. When near the right caged
ECHO room, looking at the left one, you'll see a line going right up
ECHO the screen. (If I could get those BSP nodebuilders to work with
ECHO DOOM II, which return error messages, ergo, won't rebuild D2 maps,
ECHO there would be only ONE thing "wrong"!)
