  6. <H3>Getting Started with ListPro</H3>
  7. ListPro lets you create list files, containing as many lists as 
  8. you want.  Each list can contain as many items as you want.  Optionally,
  9. you can organize your lists within any file into folders too.  Each
  10. list in any file can have fields appropriate to that list. 
  11. <p>
  12. To <a href="file:lp_editlist.htp">create a list</a>, select <b>New List</b> under 
  13. the <b>File</b> menu.  You can also create folders of lists so you can group related
  14. lists together in a folder.  To create a folder, select <b>New Folder</b> under the
  15. <b>File</b> menu.
  16. You can create any number of lists in any ListPro file, and create any number
  17. of ListPro files.  Use the <b>New File</b> pick to create new ListPro files.
  18. Organize your lists into files in ways that make sense to you.  Lists in the
  19. same file do <b><i>not</i></b> have to have the same structure.
  20. <p>
  21. Give your new list a
  22. name and choose which options you want and which columns you want to be displayed. 
  23. You can change the
  24. list's properties at any time by selecting the list and picking <b>Properties</b> from the
  25. <b>File</b> menu (or use the Properties button or double-tap the list's name).
  26. <p>
  27. Note that even though you may choose not to display a column, it will still be available
  28. for items in a list.  For example, you may not display Notes in your list,
  29. but you could see a note for an item by double-tapping that item or by displaying the
  30. Notes Pane.  You can change which
  31. columns are displayed in your lists at any time, without losing the information
  32. in any fields not displayed.

  34. Once you've created a list, select <b>Add Items to List</b> from the <b>Edit</b> menu
  35. (or use the Add Items command bar button)
  36. to <a href="file:lp_additem.htp">
  37. add one or more items</a> to the list. 
  38. <p>
  39. You can use <b>Desktop ListPro</b> to
  40. create and edit list files on your desktop.
  41. You can also create list items and
  42. <a href="file:lp_imp.htp">Import</a> them to a ListPro list, or
  43. <a href="file:lp_imp.htp">Export</a> your list to another file, 
  44. for printing or giving to someone else.
  45. <p>
  46. To sort a list, tap the column header of the column you want to sort by.  
  47. To change the order of the items on the list without sorting, use
  48. the arrow buttons in the command bar or select one of the
  49. <b>Move Item</b> picks from the <b>Edit</b> menu.  
  50. Note that these are only available when a list is <b><i>not</b></i> sorted, and
  51. all items are showing.  (See <a href="file:lp_edititem.htp">Editing List Items</a>
  52. for more information.)
  53. You can also move list items with cut and paste.  
  54. <p>
  55. To check an item in a list, tap its <b>Check</b> icon.  To flag an item to be included
  56. in a <a href="file:lp_twostep.htp">Shopping (or Two-Step) list</a>, tap its <b>Flag</b> icon.
  57. You can optionally set up your list to prompt you for an amount value
  58. when you tap either of these columns.

  60. When you've completed a list, clear all the checks by selecting
  61. <b>Reset List</b> from the <b>Edit</b> menu. Both checks and flags will
  62. be cleared from any items which have been checked.  Flagged items which
  63. have not been checked will not be cleared.  Optionally, you can set up
  64. your list to also clear amounts when a list is reset.
