  3. What is A4Extra?
  4. Acorn's A4 computer is very powerful - it packs the power of an A5000 
  5. into a tiny box. However, it's not without drawbacks. There are lots of 
  6. small niggles, which can frustrate and annoy users. A4Extra provides a 
  7. comprehensive soloution to theses problems. It does the following:-
  8.    • Stops the hard disc from powering down when the mains 
  9.    power is connected.
  10.    • Provides a percentage indication of the charge of the 
  11.    internal battery.
  12.    • Provides a simple control of the Risc OS 3 screen blanker.
  13.    • Allows easy switching between the LCD screen and an 
  14.    external monitor.
  15.    • Switches the ARM3 cache on and off easily.
  16.    • Provides a status window to show the current status of the 
  17.    A4 at a glance.
  18.    • It warns you if the charge in the battery is very low.

  20. Using A4Extra
  21. All of A4Extra is controlled from a simple application menu. 
  22. Its options are:-
  23.    Info - Gives you information on A4Extra.
  24.    Status - This window shows the status of the A4.
  25.    Ext Monitor - Click on this to switch between the LCD screen 
  26.    and the External Monitor.
  27.    Screen - This leads to a submenu which you can type the 
  28.    screen blanking time into.
  29.    Cache - Click on this to toggle the ARM3 cache on or off.
  30.    Quit - Click on this to quit A4Extra.
  31.    Clicking on the A4Extra icon to open the status window.

  33. Registration

  35. A4Extra2 is Shareware. This means that after a period of 
  36. THIRTY days you must either register it or stop using it. To 
  37. register it, fill in the registration form below and send it 
  38. with THREE pounds to the address on the registration form. 
  39. Registering will mean you will be sent major upgrades 
  40. automatically. The "Register as" section on the form is the 
  41. name you want A4Extra2 to be registered to (e.g. your name 
  42. or your companies name).

  44. Any comments on A4Extra2 are welcome (even if you don't 
  45. register) and should be sent to the address on the 
  46. registration form.

  48. You may freely copy the unregistered version (this one) but 
  49. not the full registered version. If you run a PD or 
  50. Shareware library, you may distribute this as long as you do 
  51. not remove or change any files, and contact me first to 
  52. obtain the latest version
