  3. Introduction
  4. A4Extra is designed to fix the annoying bugs and omissions in the A4
  5. computer. It does the following things:
  6.  
  7.  It stops the hard disc powering down if the external power supply is on
  8.  It controls the ARM 3 cache.
  9.  It controls the screen blanking time.
  10.  It can switch between an external monitor and the LCD display
  11.  
  12. The first option is done automatically, the other three are all controlled
  13. by the icon bar menu.
  14.  
  15. Using A4Extra
  16. The icon bar menu has five options. "Info" leads to an info box which
  17. contains information on the state of the cache and the external monitor.
  18. "Ext Monitor" switches between the LCD display and the external monitor.
  19. "Screen" leads to a menu which allows you to type in the screen blanking
  20. time. "Cache" turns the ARM 3 cache on and off. "Quit" removes A4Extra. You
  21. can use !Help (in the Apps directory in ROM) to get extra help at any time.

  23. Customising A4Extra A4Extra uses MessageTrans for all of its menu and info
  24. box entries. To customise A4Extra for a foreign language, load the message
  25. file into !Edit (or another text editor like !DeskEdit). There are comments
  26. in the messages file explaining what each entry is for.

  28. Known Bugs
  29. The "Cache" and "Ext Monitor" options on the main menu may not work
  30. correctly the first time you click on them, but selecting them for a second
  31. time will make it work correctly.

  33. Any comments on A4Extra are welcome (even if you do not register) and
  34. should be sent to the address on the registration document.
  35.  
  36. A4Extra is Shareware. This means that after a period of THIRTY days you
  37. must either register it or stop using it. To register it, fill in the
  38. registration form at the end of this document and send it with TWO pounds,
  39. a blank disk and an SAE to the address on the registration form. The
  40. "register as" section is the name you want the program to be registered to
  41. (e.g. your name or your company's name). You may freely copy the
  42. unregistered version (this one) but NOT the full registered version. If you
  43. run a PD or Shareware library, you may use distribute this as long as you
  44. do not remove or change ANY files, and contact me first to obtain the
  45. latest version.
