!SetClock is a clock utility for Acorn Risc computers built at any time since 1988. As has been recognised since the early days - the fundamental user-interface aspects of the Acorn GUI are hard to beat. This is best shown by the fact that Acorn has not needed to revise this interface much since the death of Arther, Acorn’s first OS GUI.
So far, and until users register and maybe even pay-up, all it does is:
SHOW THE TIME! But, you can also set the date and time with it. Click on the pseudo Toggle-Size icon to reveal somewhere to type in new settings. Follow the format provided in the window. It will be displaying the time and date when the program started running. This will set the computer's internal clock as used by !Alarm, but much more easily.
Try a setting of:- Sat 3rd Jun 2248 06:57:58 One second later the dreaded Acorn Millennium-Plus bug hits! Wow! Want to bet it WILL cause someone a problem?
The window will automatically reposition itself on a mode change to sit at the top of the screen.
That’s it.
This is the public release version of !SetClock. Future plans include the facility to configure the display from a menu or from the icon bar. The window position may also be configurable and savable. It will probably be included in !Mytils at a later date.
This will come if it looks as if its worth the effort.
