Program : CMOS Protect 'CMOSProt'.
Purpose : Locks the values of selected CMOS bytes.
Author : Roger Wylde @ Nifty Software.
Instructions
~~~~~~~~~~~~
CMOSProtect is a desktop task (without and icon) which will
protect the values of a list of CMOS bytes. When loaded it
reads in a list of CMOS addresses in the !Run file, the
values stored at these address are then stored. Once every
second it looks at the CMOS checksum, if this has changed it
writes back all of the stoted values and then makes a note
of the new CMOS checksum. This allows other bytes to be
changed freely.
'Where do I get these magical addresses' I hear you ask,
simple look in the Programmers Reference Manual (PRM).
'I don't have a copy of that excerlent piece of reference
material' - well either buy it or find someone who will
lend it to you.
For starters here are some good ones :-
188 - screen blanker and other things,
198 - various filer options.
Legal Bit
~~~~~~~~~
This program is freeware, you may copy it as much as you like,
but never charge more than nominal amounts (ie. for time and
media). If you feel the urge to include it on a PD/Cover CD
then I'd like a free copy or at least a discount on buying it.
No responsibility can be accepted for the results of the use
or misuse of this application.
Enjoy,
Roger Wylde, 11/4/97.
