The accompanying text files ‘Pap to !C’ and ‘!C to Pap’ and ‘Install’ explain how to transfer information between !Citation and Papyrus (a popular PC bibliographical software package which runs under DOS).
‘Pap To !C’ will tell you how to export references from a Papyrus database in a format that is compatible with !Citation.
‘!C to Pap’ will tell you how to export references from !Citation in a format that Papyrus can understand.
‘Install’ explains how to Install two new Formats into Papyrus which will allow it to export references to !Citation, and read output generated by the Citation Style ‘PapOut’.
Whilst the instructions are reasonably detailed, I have assumed that you know at least something about using Papyrus and DOS. Papyrus is a rather idiosyncratic creation, but the manuals supplied with it are quite helpful (once you’ve worked out which of the three volumes is the right one!)
If you are unsure about basic things like loading and saving files in the unfriendly land of DOS, then please don’t go crying to Tim. He wrote !Citation so that he could avoid having to unravel the answers to esoteric questions like that. Besides, he’s disowned all of this anyway.
However, if you’ve got any suggestions for improvements, or - better still - have made enhancements of your own, then your feedback is more than welcome.
N.B. The version of Papyrus that I’ve tested this with is the DOS version
7.0.14.
