  4. This document refers to !Citation ver 3.0.
  5.  
  6. In BIDS (Bath Info. and Data Services) comprises several databases. The 
  7. articles in all the ISI (Institute for Scientific Information) citation 
  8. indices (science, social sciences, and the arts and humanities) use 
  9. identical article formats. The field labels quoted in the guide (with 
  10. translation to !Citation) are:

  27. Most use upper case characters except for the AB field. Abstracts have 
  28. been included since 1991 for most English language articles.

  64. Any item with "Review" in it is given a a "Review Article" reference 
  65. type. "Article" is translated to "Journal Article" and the rest don't 
  66. have an exact !Citation translation so they are put in Field A.

  68. The Institute for Scientific Information (ISI) data is updated weekly and 
  69. taken from about 7500 selected international journals. It is organised 
  70. into three Citation Indexes (SCI, SSCI and A&HCI) and contains 
  71. bibliographic details of articles etc including any references that are 
  72. cited. Since 1991 many entries have also included English language author 
  73. abstracts.

  75. !Citation handles any BIDS files with the following format. It uses 
  76. "Record -" to find the start of a reference and the blank line at the end 
  77. as a stop delimiter.

  107. Other database files that are recognised, though in some cases not fully 
  108. translated to !Citation fields, are...

  110. British Library Inside Information (BLII)
  111. -----------------------------------------
  112. The data covers details of every major article in 10,000 of BLDSC's most 
  113. requested titles.  It includes the first four authors, article title, 
  114. journal and issue details, the start page number and the ISSN.  
  115. Collection of data commenced in October 1992.

  117. Compendex*Plus supplied by Engineering Information Inc. (Ei)
  118. ------------------------------------------------------------
  119. The data, which will eventually go back to 1972, is updated weekly.  It 
  120. covers over 2,600 international publications, most of them cover-to-
  121. cover. Virtually all core engineering publications are included.  Each 
  122. year, some 170,000 new abstracts are added to the database.  175 
  123. engineering disciplines are covered in depth.

  125. International Bibliography of the Social Sciences (IBSS)
  126. --------------------------------------------------------
  127. The data, which goes back to 1981, is updated weekly.  It covers over 
  128. 2,600 selected international social sciences journals, covering the core 
  129. disciplines of economics, sociology, politics and anthropology.  The 
  130. database consists of bibliographic details of articles and reviews from 
  131. journals, and of books and book chapters.

  176. AB- The authors have identified that indium top surface without serious 
  177.     roughness can be acquired by Ar+ sputtering even if substrate 
  178.     temperature is as low as 300 C. In atomic force microscopy 
  179.     observations, this surface exhibits a textured structure composed of 
  180.     double atomic height step. Furthermore, the azimuthal dependence of 
  181.     the coaxial impact collision ion scattering spectroscopy (CAICISS) 
  182.     show two-fold symmetry with respect to <110> axis, which indicates 
  183.     that the crystalline quality of this surface is quite high. 11 Refs.

  243. From Sept '97 BIDS is offering an OVID interface. This is much easier to 
  244. use and data is still forwarded to the requester by Email however you 
  245. should set the format in the "Save" menu to "Reprint" before saving the 
  246. data. "Reprint" is essentially the same as the Medline Ovid output but 
  247. the format of the Source line is subtly different (don't you just love 
  248. "Standards"). Import using the "Reprint" option in the File Import window 
  249. and !Citation will automatically compensate for this.
