!ManyFonts 3.00
===============
by Peter Hartley 1995 (K) All Rites Reversed - Copy What You Like
A simple way to keep track of all your fonts, install new ones,
turn them on and off, and soforth.
Installing !ManyFonts for the first time
----------------------------------------
The root directory of your hard disc is a good place to put it.
Once it’s there, double-click on it. An empty window will open. To
add fonts to !ManyFonts, click Menu and choose ‘Install...’. A window
will open to which you can drag your font directories (*not* your
!Fonts directory, the individual directories with the fonts in, e.g.
‘Trinity’).
Upgrading an existing !ManyFonts (2.11 or earlier) installation
---------------------------------------------------------------
You can’t, unfortunately, just copy this !ManyFonts over a
previous one. You must rename your existing !ManyFonts to something
else, e.g. ‘ManyFontsX’, and then install the new !ManyFonts and add
all your fonts to it just as if you'd never had !ManyFonts before.
There is no way of keeping the install/category information in the
old !ManyFonts.!Config.
RiscOS 3.5 and later
--------------------
For reasons unknown, the Window Manager in RiscOS 3.5 goes
absolutely ape if Wimp$Font is in a font directory with a Messages
file (see PRM p4-486). To prevent this, there's a separate directory
inside !ManyFonts - not controlled by the font-selection window -
where you can stick your Wimp font. This font directory is
FontInstall'd not by the !Boot file like all the others, but by a
separate !Install file (see below).
To avoid the icon bar being drawn and then redrawn during boot,
stick lines like this in !Boot.Choices.Boot.PreDesktop:
Set Wimp$Font GillSans.Italic
Set Wimp$FontSize 224
Run Boot:Resources.!Fonts.!Boot
Run Boot:^.!ManyFonts.!Install
and this one in !Boot.Choices.Boot.Desktop:
Filer_Boot Boot:^.!ManyFonts
