*** Introduction ***
Put simply, it's another of those programs that provide a button bar at the
top of the screen. The difference with this one is that it's *free*, *small*
and will be frequently updated for the forseeable future.
To read the full manual, you'll need a copy of Guttorm Vik's StrongHelp 2
application. The manual can then be viewed from either the Help option from
the filer menu, or by clicking on 'Info' in WimpBar 2's main menu.
*** Installation ***
First installation:
Copy the !WimpBar2 application into !Boot.Choices.Boot.Tasks, so that
it will be run each time the desktop starts up. You'll need to configure
WB2 to suit your set-up before it becomes useful - see the manual for
details.
Upgrading from v1.52 or later:
Take a copy of your current installation - just in case...
Drag the new !WimpBar2 application over the original copy, then simply
quit and reload. The new version of WimpBar 2 should now be running with
your original Choices file and any additional macros still intact.
Upgrading from v1.51 or earlier:
Move your current installation elsewhere, then copy the new !WimpBar2
application into Tasks. Open up your old version and copy the Choices file
and any additional macros into the new copy. Quit and reload.
*** What's New in this Release ***
* Much improved Choices file reading:
- Errors no longer result in a blank button bar.
- Errors are reported more consistently.
- Menus with no items are now ignored (this previously caused an
undefined menu to be opened).
* New 'open directory' menu item type.
* The bar will now go to the back of the window stack when the pointer is
moved off it (except when there is a menu open). If this proves to be
unpopular, it will be made optional.
* The 'maximum items' parameter in the !Run file has changed from -e
('entries') to -i ('items'), since it refers to the number of commands in
an action button as well as the number of menu entries allowed.
* Improved some of the example macros.
