  2. Magenta Research produced the first commercial communications package
  3. for the Archimedes: U_Connect.
  4.  
  5. U_Connect II will be released in a RISC-OS compatible form, after 
  6. considerable re-design of the user interface, to meet the requirements 
  7. of, and take advantage of, the new multi-tasking WIMP environment.
  8.  
  9. We view RISC-OS as the best thing to happen in Acorn since sliced Hovis,
  10. and we are considering a variety of new applications for the Archimedes,
  11. under the general category of system maintenance and productivity tools.

  13. First will be a Back-Up Utility, especially important for Hard-Disk and
  14. Network users, supporting file compression, and flexible specification
  15. options.

  17. Another product is a Telephone Book, with all the normal features of an
  18. address book database, plus dialling the number via a suitable modem
  19. connected to the RS423 port.

  21. We are also hoping to produce several programmers aids, including 
  22. an interactive Help system for C and Assembler programmers.

  24. Magenta is always interested to here from anyone who has written software 
  25. for the Archimedes - especially WIMP based, using assembler or 'C'.
