Acorn have ensured a high degree of upgrade compatibility between
the Arthur operating system and the new RISC OS. Our products were
designed initially as single tasks to be run under Arthur. After
extensive testing we have found that all of them can still be run as
single tasks from within the BASIC environment but not necessarily from
within the Desktop environment. (See the note at the end of this file
for instructions for entering BASIC from the Desktop).
Our Products:
EpBas consists of routines in BASIC and machine code that enable you to
use Acorn's Floating Point Emulator or Coprocessor from within BASIC
giving you extended precision (19 digits) and a greater range of values
(to 10^4031) than BASIC normally provides.
FpAss consists of routines in BASIC that enable you to generate object
code which use floating point operations. Again, the object code
requires either Acorn's Floating Point Emulator or Coprocessor.
DumpLQ is the source and object code for a relocatable module which
produces a bit-mapped screen dump on Epson LQ compatible 24 pin
printers that support Epsons' printer mode 39.
MiniDumpFX is the source and object code for a relocatable module
intended to compliment Acorn's HardCopyFX by producing a bit-mapped
dump to an Epson FX. The dump size is only 4.5" by 3.5".
Election87 contains all the results of the 1987 General Election. An
upgraded version which makes use of the multi-tasking of RISC OS will
be made available to registered users.
RSComms simplifies the transfer of all types of files from earlier
Acorn machines and any machine running BBC BASIC II or later. The
transfer is made through the Archimedes RS423 port. An upgrade will
make full use of the multi-tasking environment of RISC OS. This will
be a substantial upgrade and may be called by a new name. It will
enable you to use other Acorn machines such as BBC model B or Master as
coprocessors through their RS423 ports.
Note:
To enter BASIC from Desktop, click the middle mouse button on the Task
Manager icon which will be found at the bottom right of the icon bar.
Click the right-hand mouse button on Exit and you will find yourself in
the System environment with a * as your prompt. Type in BASIC and you
will enter the BASIC environment. All our products, as supplied for
Arthur, can then be run.
