Release Notes
=============
Game On! Release 2.50a
StrongGuard Release 3.10
Refer to the manual for full instructions on how to use Game On! or
StrongGuard! This file only details differences between the descriptions in
the manual and this release.
If you wish to upgrade from Game On! to StrongGuard! please contact the Club
for details.
Changes in StrongGuard! release 3.10
------------------------------------
A bug fix and a minor code alteration mean that some additional software
(including ImageBank and Dune II) now work correctly on a SA with
StrongGuard installed. Note the version in the info window still reads 3.00
A new programs database is distributed in this version, which is also
present in Game On! 2.50a (the only difference from 2.50)
General
-------
* No guarantees are made as to the accurancy of the database or any other
indications of whether software is made to work or not. Additions and/or
corrections to the database are always welcomed, particularly SA
compatibility for those entries marked as unknown. Please email submissions
to softdev@armclub.org.uk or, if you don't have email, send or fax them to
the address / number given on the contents page of the manual.
* GBase is public domain and may freely be copied. It contains a database
which is identical to the default one in a newly installed copy of Game On!
or StrongGuard!
Installing StrongGuard! to run Automatically
--------------------------------------------
* StrongGuard! will not be able to protect applications if you load the
modules only on startup by placing the application in the PreDesk directory.
It is, therefore, recommended that you do not do this with StrongGuard!
Using StrongGuard! / Game On!
-----------------------------
* Note that the SA compatibility information is now presented in a different
way from that shown in the screen shot on page 6. SA compatibility of some
applications is indicated as 'unknown'.
Additional StrongGuard Features
-------------------------------
* Note that starting an application by dragging it to the icon bar icon and
choosing Run protected from the incompatibility warning window will run the
application with All mode protection. When adding applications, which
require protection, to the database you should first try adding them as
requiring User mode protection and change to All mode if that fails.
Appendix C
----------
* There are two sets of 100Hz modes in the FullScreen directory, A and B. A is
the set used for the AKF60 and AKF85 definition files and B is the set used
for the AKF90 definition files. You may like to experiment with both when
creating 100Hz definition files for other monitors. Set B was designed by Tom
Hughes.
