  12. Greetings to all Acorn enthusiasts.

  14. As you can gather by the silence from PM we have been very busy and
  15. regrettably we have not been able to reply to much of the mail. The good
  16. news is that we can inform you of a number of topics that you will no doubt
  17. find interesting!

  19. We have now recruited a full time manager to look after 'enthusiasts', which
  20. will mean that you will receive a better service from PM. 
  21.  
  22. The pivotal point of all things Acorn will be Acorn World 94 on the
  23. 28th, 29th and 30th October, so please do come along and meet us there. We
  24. will be making a number of announcements at the show and in addition, to
  25. whet peoples appetites, we will be showing a number of exciting developments
  26. for and around Risc PC.

  28. We obviously cannot reveal the exact nature, delivery and pricing of
  29. products that will/could/may appear in two or three years time but we will
  30. be 'teasing' you with some of our R+D work as well as some of our
  31. collaborative work with third parties.

  33. Below are items of interest that we will be showing (subject to the laws of
  34. physics, s/w development, couriers, promises etc).

  36. -       A 'SIX' processor upgrade for Risc PCs including homogeneous and
  37.         heterogeneous support.
  38.  
  39. -       A Risc PC ISA adaptor-set to allow Risc PC to use IBM ISA H/W cards.
  40.  
  41. -       TAOS: a multi-processor micro kernel OS for use in hetero/homogenous
  42.         processor systems. 
  43.  
  44. -       A BSD port for Risc PC
  45.  
  46. -       Arm 700/710, FPA 11 processors.
  47.  
  48. -       PC cards (if Samsung can deliver the ASICs in time!) with a variety
  49.         of processors/speeds etc.
  50.  
  51. -       16 bits mini sound cards / 32 bit SCSI cards / 24 bit video cards etc.

  53. -       ATM links / ISDN links to Acorn House
  54.  
  55. -       WEB browsers for Risc OS
  56.  
  57. -       Support of alien servers for Risc OS e.g. NT Server, OS/2, Windows
  58.         for Workgroups/NFS etc.

  60. -       CD ROM support and authentication for Access

  62. -       Video phone links
  63.  
  64. -       We will be featuring the ultimate home HI-FI/Set-Top Box/Computer
  65.         lounge of the future staffed by our resident Lounge Lizard AKA Neil
  66.         Gardner

  68. -       Over the top Risc PCs with the ultimate accessory (come to the show
  69.         to see what it is!).

  71. -       Risc PCs with 7 slices; Risc PC as servers
  72.  
  73. -       Risc OS supporting GT 512 MB partitions
  74.  
  75. -       3D rendering s/w for use in differing applications!

  77. In addition we will announce all the details on the Acorn enthusiast scheme
  78. (and reveal its real name!). You will be able to sign up on the day and
  79. receive the ultimate goody bag (please bring £15 along for that). People
  80. signing up at Acorn World will be entered into a competition for one of
  81. three prizes:
  82.         
  83.         the first six processor expansion card;
  84.         the first ARM700 with FPA11 in the public domain; or
  85.         the first PC card with the fastest processor we can fit.

  87. All the above are prototype status and supplied as is (so you may require
  88. your own debugging/development organisation!).
