Copyright Notice
----------------
This copyright notice applies to 'Protector' version 2.10.
Protector version 2.10 © Copyright 1992 Ian Palmer.
This copyright covers the source and any associated data of the above
program with the given version number. It also covers any versions with
the same 'root' version number (see below).
In this document the term `program' covers both the program source,
executable and any associated data.
The author reserves the right to take action against anyone, or company, who
acts in such a way as to break the conditions specified in the document.
Distribution
------------
Permission is hereby given to allow anyone to distribute the afore
mentioned program, as long as the following conditions are
adhered to :
• The program is distributed intact, including this copyright
notice and all other copyright notices.
• The program may only be distributed in such a way that no
commercial gain, or advantage, is made through it's distribution.
Distribution 'costs' may be charged, insofar that these costs are
limited to independent courier costs, distribution media and
packaging.
• All the terms set out in this document are adhered to.
• The author reserves the right to refuse any individual, or
company, permission to distribute this program.
Alterations
-----------
Permission is hereby given to allow anyone to make changes to the
program, and/or associated data, as long as the following conditions
are adhered to :
• No comments are removed from the program.
• No copyright messages are removed or altered.
If the altered version is going to be distributed then :
• A copy of the original files (root version) must also be
included with the distribution.
• All changes are logged in the associated file (called 'Changes').
If no such file exists no changes can be made to the program.
Changes must be logged according to the rules specified in the
changes file.
• The version number is altered, in accordance with the rules
given elsewhere in this document. If the rules governing version
numbers can not be followed, then no changes can be made.
• Any changes made will be covered by this copyright document.
The author of the changes must add a copyright line at the end of
this document (in accordance with the rules covering versions).
Rules Governing Versions
------------------------
This section only applies where a user wishes to alter the program in
some way, and also intends to distribute the altered version. Where a
user wishes only to alter the program for their own use, logging of
alterations, and creation of versions are not necessary - although
advised.
In this document the term `root version number' indicates the first two
numerals of the version number. This means that if the version number
is 'version 2.45', then the root version number is '2.4'.
The root version number for this program is fixed, and may not be
altered without prior permission by the copyright owner of the root
version (given at the start of this document).
Anyone wishing to make alterations to this program must create their
own version number. This is done by adding one digit after the
root version number. The version number produced must be greater
than any version numbers listed at the end of this document. Once
the digit nine ('9') has been used to form a version number, no
further new versions can be made from this root version.
The produced version number, and the name of the author making the
changes, must be placed at the end of this document, following the
format :
Alterations leading to version <version>
Copyright <year> <name>.
All alterations will be covered by this document, and must be
documented in the 'changes' file.
Warranty
--------
This program is supplied "as is", without express or implied warranty.
