  31. Download the archive file(s) and extract using SparkPlug 2
  32. (see the "tools_help" file in micros/arch/riscos/tools for further info).

  35. Description:

  37. ReMIDI is a program that will play MIDI files on an Acorn RiscOS
  38. computer, without the need for buying extra hardware. You will need to
  39. have a large set of samples however.
  40.  
  41. The main features are:
  42.  * About twice the speed of TiMidity.
  43.    You can reach higher samplerates, or more polyphony with ReMIDI.
  44.    On slower machines it will mean that files that couldn't be played
  45.    by TiMidity even at 8kHz will now work.
  46.  * Desktop frontend.
  47.    ReMIDI has a frontend made with the Acorn ToolBox. You can see
  48.    which MIDI file is playing, and if your computer can keep up.
  49.  * 8/16 bit, mono/stereo output.
  50.    Obviously you'll need a 16 bit audiocard in your RiscPC to use 16
  51.    bit output. On other machines 8 bit audio is used.
  52.  * Displays lyrics of karaoke-files (.kar)
  53.  * Playlist for 10 MIDI-files.
  54.    ReMIDI won't quit after it has played a file, it will wait until
  55.    quit is selected or a new file is double-clicked.
  56.  * Control window for altering volumes and muting channels

  58. The trade-off for the speed increase is a decrease in the sound 
  59. quality compared to TiMidity. For ReMIDI a fast processor is still
  60. recommended, and at least 4MB is needed.

  62. You'll need the toolbox modules and the patch-set to run ReMIDI.
