Description:
LOGIN contains three programs: login, passwd and readonly. Together they
supply a simple form of security plus the ability to manage the boot
sequence.
Login is a clone of the Unix login program. It is a command-line program and
is intended to be placed within your bootup sequence before the desktop
starts. At this early point, it is possible to stop (clueless) people from
accessing facilities on your machine without logging in. Different
environments can be entered depending on the login name entered.
Passwd changes your password in the /etc/passwd file.
Readonly marks a system variable as being read-only. Once marked, any
attempt to change the value of the variable will cause an error to be
generated.
