  1.                   !LazyPrint   Version 2.38       6 March 1997

  3.   !LazyPrint sends simple text or Draw files to a Hewlett Packard  printer,
  4. allowing easy selection of printer parameters such as paper orientation,
  5. margin sizes and hardware fonts for text printing jobs such as program
  6. listings, simple letters and address labels. Draw and Sprite files can also
  7. be printed at any magnification and position on the page in colour or 
  8. black-and-white.
  9.  
  10.   It does this using HP languages within the printer to form the characters,
  11. draw the lines etc. and so is very much faster than the Acorn or
  12. Computer Concepts printer-drivers which send the information as bit-maps.
  13. Sprites are sent as bit-maps for which LazyPrint is no faster than printer
  14. drivers.
  15.  
  16.   Unlike printer drivers, LazyPrint is truly multi-tasking, always allowing
  17. the computer to work on other tasks while it is printing.
  18.  
  19.   !LazyPrint is written in Fortran.
  20.  
  21.    If you want to use this program regularly, you should register to receive
  22. the complete suite of utilities as well as updates and help with problems. 
  23. To register, please send your name and address (HP printer model number, 
  24. e-mail and phone number are also helpful) together with the £10 registration 
  25. fee (to cover the costs of administration and our HP manuals) to the address
  26. at the bottom of this file.

  29.       Two applications are distributed to registered users:
  30.  
  31. 1) !LazyPrint: which sends files to the printer
  32. 2) !LazyCodes: helps with entering codes in fancy text for !LazyPrint.
  33.  
  34.   Within !LazyPrint there are two programs which are activated by
  35. double-clicking on files of the appropriate type. These are:
  36.  
  37. 1) CSV2Labels: converts CSV (type DFE) to labels (text) in a suitable form
  38. for printing labels from !LazyPrint 
  39.  
  40. 2) LPPrint: sends Printout (type FF4) straight to the printer.
  41.  
  42.   Also within LazyPrint is the Basic program 'ThickLine' which allows you
  43. to increase the thickness of the thinnest lines in a Draw file. This is useful
  44. for those who have Draw files containing very thin white lines on a dark 
  45. background which are often invisible when printed because spreading ink/toner
  46. covers them up.

  54. 2) FontList: Fonts available in the HP printer with correspondence to
  55.              RISC-OS fonts.

  57. 3) PageList: printer paper sizes
  58.  
  59. 4) 'docs' directory containing
  60.     Copyright: (please read this)
  61.     DiskGrid: a Draw file template for Disk labels 
  62.                 (Avery L7664 diskette 3.5 70 by 71.9mm)
  63.     FaultRep:  a form for reporting errors
  64.     Manual:    detailed instructions on using the programs; this has
  65.                fancy formatting codes in it for printing so just dragging
  66.                it to the !LazyPrint icon with the default settings 
  67.                (Layout=Manual) should output an A4 size manual
  68.     Versions:  a brief history of improvements to !LazyPrint
  69.  
  70. 5) 'examples' directory containing
  71.     Chars128: (text) for printing ASCII characters 128 to 159
  72.     CSV_Mine: (CSV) for CSV2Labels which then makes 'MyLabels' below
  73.     MyDiscs:  (text) disk labels
  74.     MyLabels: (text) addresses
  75.     MyLetter: (text) a letter
  76.     Shades:   (Draw) showing standard desktop colours as sprite and as
  77.               filled paths
  78.     ThinBoxes:(Draw) thin lines on a dark background (for 'Thicklines')
