  21.  Description:
  22.  ~~~~~~~~~~~~
  23.     An interactive chord dictionary which allow you to look up
  24. the fingerings for a given chord.
  25.  
  26.     Currently !Chords contains about 120 fixed-position chord
  27. fingerings and 100 movable fingerings, giving a total of 1320
  28. possible chords (I think).  The program can also deal with
  29. enharmonic equivalents (i.e. Bb is the same chord as A#) so you may
  30. refer to a chord by either name when there is an equivalent.

  32.     The equivalents are:
  33.     Bb -> A#    Cb -> B        B# -> C
  34.     Db -> C#    Eb -> D#    Fb -> E
  35.     E# -> F        Gb -> F#    Ab -> G#

  37.     Note than a "Flat" is indicated by the 'b' symbol.

  39.     This program uses for the standard "EADGBE" tuning.

  44.     This application uses Acorn's interactive help, which I
  45. would recommend you use on the chord selection window (see below)
  46. if any of the symbols are unfamiliar.
  47.  
  48.     On loading, the application installs on the icon bar and
  49. opens the chord display window, showing a standard chord box, the
  50. chord name, and a toolbox.
  51.  
  52. The standard chord box:
  53.     Most guitarists will be familiar with this but in case you
  54. arn't a brief description follows.  The grid represents the
  55. fretboard with the 'nut' at the top. Horizontal lines are the
  56. frets, vertical lines are strings.  The standard tuning is
  57. assumed.  The following symbols are used:
  58.  
  59.     Cross:            Do not play this string.
  60.  
  61.     Small o:            Play this string open (no fingers)
  62.  
  63.     Filled Red Circle:    Put you finger here. The Number
  64.                 indicates which finger to use, one
  65.                 for the index finger to four for
  66.                 the little finger.
  67.  
  68.     Empty Red Circle:    As above but it is optional.

  70. The Chord Name:
  71.     Pretty self explanatory, except a 'b' symbolises a 'flat'. 
  72. The numbers following the note show the number of chords found and
  73. how far through them you are.

  75. The toolbox:
  76.          ?:  Open the 'Chord Selector' window.
  77.    Guitar icon:  Open the 'Fretboard' window.    
  78.          >:  Show Next Chord.
  79.          <:  Show Previous Chord.

  81.     Clicking adjust on the Show next and previous icons will
  82. change the chord number by 10.

  84. The Chord Selector Window:
  85.     Each chord is broken down into three components. On the
  86. Chord Selector there are three sets of radio icons and, by
  87. selecting one from each set, a chord can be built up.  The first
  88. set consists of the letters A to G, the second selects between a
  89. natural, sharp or flat chord, and the final set consists of many
  90. different chord endings.
  91.     So if you wanted to see C#m6 (C sharp minor sixth) you
  92. would click 'C' in the first set, sharp in the second and 'm6' in
  93. the third.  For a natural chord or a Major chord, symbols are not
  94. usually written so the 'A' chord would consist of 'A', natural,
  95. and 'M'.  When you are happy with your selection click on the 'Go!'
  96. button.
  97.     Movable chords can be excluded from the search by
  98. selecting the checkbox labelled 'Exclude movable chords'.
  99.     By clicking adjust on an already selected icon, it can be
  100. turned off so that no icons in that group are selected.  This acts
  101. as a simple wildcard facility e.g. if no note letters were selected
  102. and "#" and "m6" were, then all of the "#m6" chords would be found.
  103. Movable chords cannot be selecting in this way.  If no icons are
  104. selected then all non-movable chords will be shown.

  106. The Fretboard.
  107.     The fretboard window is opened by clicking on the guitar
  108. icon in the toolbox.  It shows the same chords as is being
  109. displayed but in a more naturalistic way.  Some people (i.e. me)
  110. find it easier to use when trying to play the chord.
