  1. 1. copy makefile to \plplot\tmp
  2. 2. comment out win3 if you want the dosbgi version
  3. 3. cd \plplot\tmp
  4.    make links
  5.    make libc
  6.    make fonts
  7.    e.g. make x11c
  8.  
  9. Everything works for me with Borland C++ 3.1,4.0 and plplot 4.99g
