  18. This application provides interactive
  19. help when the !Help application is
  20. active.

  23. What this software does
  24.  
  25. It allows the entry of the x and y
  26. values for a number of data, and the
  27. data may then be fit to
  28.  
  29. a. best straight line
  30. b. best parabola
  31. c. a cubic spline curve
  32. d. a polynomial of order up to 6
  33.  
  34. A number of options for obtaining
  35. various forms of hard copy exist
  36. (saving as a !Draw file, or printing via
  37. any standard RISC-OS printer driver).

  41. Running the application
  42.  
  43. This software is fully RISC-OS
  44. compatible, and is multi-tasking. It can
  45. be run from the desktop in all the
  46. standard ways.

  48. Double clicking on the !GraphDraw icon
  49. in a directory viewer will install its
  50. icon on the icon bar.
  51.  
  52. The application can also be started by
  53. double clicking on a GraphDraw file. In
  54. this case, besides the icon appearing on
  55. the icon bar, the edit window will be
  56. opened with the contents of the data
  57. file displayed, for further editing if
  58. necessary. A data file may also be
  59. dragged, either into the edit window, or
  60. to the iconbar icon. The data will be
  61. loaded, overwriting any data that had
  62. previously been entered.

  65. The Iconbar Menu
  66.  
  67. Clicking with MENU on the icon offers
  68. the following options:
  69.  
  70. Info
  71. The standard information box, with
  72. version number. This is the number that
  73. should be quoted in any communication
  74. regarding the application.

  76. Help
  77. Opens this help window
  78.  
  79. Choices...
  80. Selecting this brings up a dialogue box
  81. that allows a range of options to be
  82. changed, and these changes may be made
  83. permanent so that they become the new
  84. defaults when the application is
  85. subsequently started.
  86.  
  87.  The choices should be self explanatory.
  88. The font names and size can be changed.
  89. To change the font, simply click on the
  90. menu button to the right of the font
  91. name field, when a menu will open with
  92. all the installed fonts shown, from
  93. which a choice can be made. Clicking on
  94. the menu button to the right of the
  95. font size field will raise a menu to
  96. choose the new size.

  98. The type of line (dashed or continuous)
  99. used for producing a graph grid for the
  100. graph may be chosen.

  102. If the "Save graph layout options" is
  103. selected, then all the CURRENT layout
  104. settings will be saved in the default
  105. file, otherwise the old layout default
  106. settings will not altered.
  107.  
  108. The changes will not come into operation
  109. until the Set button is pressed. If the
  110. cancel button (or the window close icon)
  111. is pressed, the dialogue box is removed
  112. from the  screen, and the original
  113. defaults remain in effect. The selection
  114. can be made the new default by clicking
  115. on the save icon. (This option is NOT
  116. available when the application is
  117. running over econet). Note that the
  118. default file is saved within the
  119. !GraphDraw application,  therefore, if
  120. the application is being run from a
  121. floppy disc, the filer may request the
  122. disc containing the !GraphDraw
  123. application to be inserted in the disc
  124. drive.

  126.  Quit
  127. Terminates the GraphDraw. GraphDraw
  128. offers the chance to save any modified
  129. data before quitting.

  132. Entering Data

  134. Clicking SELECT on the GraphDraw iconbar
  135. icon will open an empty edit window,
  136. into which the pairs of x,y data may be
  137. entered. This version allows a maximum
  138. of 200 data point pairs.
