1. Introduction
----------------
IRCBar is a shortcut bar for Internet Relay Chat (IRC). It can be used with
any IRC Client but was designed for use with IRClient and telnet IRC
Sessions. It is designed to allow users, especially novices, quick entry
of common commands.
Its features include :
• One click entry of common commands
• Definable lists of Nicknames and Channels
• Support for some advanced commands
• Support for some ChanOp commands
• Sends output to the currently selected window
• A compact window for use in overcrowded desktops
• Easy command entry, especially for new users of IRC
2. Requirements
----------------
IRCBar requires RiscOS 3.1 or above, and it should ideally be installed to
a harddisc. It will work correctly from a floppy, but will be a lot slower,
especially when adding user/channel names.
For actual use, it requires an IRC connection. Users of Freenet, Acorn
Internet or the ANT Internet Suite will probably be using IRClient, Torque or
iXRC. Users of the Termite Suite will have to use a telnet connection,
requiring a terminal program.
3. Installation
----------------
IRCBar needs practically no installation, it can be run from an archive if
you have SparkFS or ArcFS R/W. For best results it is recommended you edit
the user and channel lists.
Load IRCBar, and click menu over the main window. Click on either "Names"
or "Channels". Edit the list, and save when finished. Next time you click on
the menu icons at the bottom of the window, the names you have just entered
will appear.
4. Usage
---------
Using IRCBar is very simple. Double click to load. Connect to IRC with the
program you are using, and ensure the caret is in the IRC programs window.
Then clicking on icons will enter commands.
Some commands, that need a nickname or a channel, will take it from the
two boxes at the bottom of the window. The current nick and channel can be
changed by using the menus beside these boxes.
Nicks/Channels can be added by going to the "Other" entry on the menus,
and entering a name or channel, pressing "Enter" when done. Lists can be
further edited by clicking menu, and clicking either "Names" or Channels",
editing the lists and saving.
5. Legal Stuff
---------------
This program is studentware, and may be freely distributed, but it may not
be modified in any way, except for the User and Channel lists. This
copyright notice specifically may not be removed or altered.
PD libraries and Magazines may distribute this, as long as I am asked for
my consent first. And I'll send you the latest version.
The definition of studentware requires that you send me 5 New Zealand
dollars for using this program/3 UKP IF you can afford it. If you cannot
afford it, you may use this program freely. There are no enhancements
gained by sending me money - it just eases your guilt :-).
I retain copyright of all included materials.
