makeinfo converts TeXinfo source into a gnuinfo file
'makeinfo -h' gives a summary of command line options
-----------------------------------------------------
default info path set up is /etc/info
default terminal type is acorn31
(since gnuinfo calculates the screen size, the terminal
size specified in the termcap entry is ignored. acorn12
and acorn31 then become equivalent)
!SmallTask (on an Acorn User cover disk) runs GnuInfo
perfectly (apart from speed of update).
!Zap and !Edit's taskwindows can't cope with GnuInfo
!VMode ran GnuInfo but *immensely* slowly AFAIR
GnuInfo also ran under the ANSI.SYS emulator module
(from Hensa?) but slowly and with restrictions.
printing nodes works by creating a temporary file and
then doing DEFAULT_INFO_PRINT_COMMAND ("unixcat > printer: ")
[unixcat taking input from stdin and dumping it to stdout]
-----------------------------------------------------
if anyone can get a termcap that can do actual
reverse video, then I'd like a copy. I can't get it
to work properly (hence the coloured status bar)
-----------------------------------------------------
lots of things crash GnuInfo at the moment (pressing
backspace, starting with no command line arguments etc)
I think it's to do with UnixLib (because I can't remember
whether I used cc or gcc to compile it). If anyone can
figure out why, I'd be grateful.
-----------------------------------------------------
If anyone wants the source, or anything else GNU-related
(like ed :)
