Software from 'Fortran Friends'
'Fortran Friends' started as a 'self-help' support group of users of the
programming language Fortran on Acorn computers to collect useful routines
into libraries available from PD libraries. More recently some of us have
written utilities to enable Fortran programmers to call system routines
easily from their programs and a 'Front End' to simplify use of the Fortran
compiler from the desktop. We have also implemented the graphics plotting
package PGPLOT, and the molecule drawing program ORTEP III on the Acorn
range of computers. These are available from PD libraries and HENSA.
We also write application programs and utilities using these Fortran
libraries.
We are always happy to receive suggestions for additional programs or
improvements to existing ones. Please contact us at any time at the address
at the end of this file.
------------------------ Available now: ----------------------------------
!Lazyprint (shareware)
prints text and Draw files on Hewlett Packard printers using the HPGL
and PCL languages. A recent version is on the Archive monthly disc:
vol 10 issue 11. The program is reviewed in that issue. Registration costs
£10; for this you get the latest version of the program and we try to fix
your problems and think about implementing your requested enhancements.
---------------- Polyhedron plotting programs ----------------------------
!PolyDraw
interactive exploration of polyhedra from any one of over 140 data files
supplied. These consist of all the Platonic and Archimedean Solids and their
duals, together with the Kepler Poinsot and Johnson polyhedra, and some
prisms and antiprisms. Each polyhedron can be seen simultaneously in two
windows, as a 3D solid and as a planar net, both of which may be saved as a
Draw file and incorporated in the user's own documents.
!PolyNet
interactive creation of a planar net from a polyhedron data file.
The net may be saved, with or without tabs, to a Draw file. The faces can be
coloured and decorated with the user's clip art before printing the net,
cutting it out and making it into a 3D model.
Extra Data Disks
(may be used in either !PolyDraw or !PolyNet)
All have a set of Draw files showing all the polyhedra on A4 size pages
Disk 1
The duals of the Johnson Solids, created by Paul Gailiunas.
Disk 2
Stellations, compounds, space fillers, mostly created by G.Inchbald
with a few from Fortran Friends
Demo versions of !PolyDraw and !PolyNet are available from PD libraries
and from HENSA. These have only a few example data files, no other data files
can be loaded into them, or any file saved from them, but you can try all
the features on the screen.
------------------------------In preparation:-------------------------------
!Stellate
interactive creation of uniform polyhedra and their stellations using
stored inter-planar angles. The resulting polyhedra may be saved in several
formats, for later use in !Draw, !Stellate, !PolyDraw or !PolyNet.
More polyhedra data files for use with !PolyDraw or !PolyNet; let us know
what you want; we are making more stellations and ones from Wenninger's book.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
PRICES
We sell the polyhedra plotting programs for £20 each, with a discount of
£5 per program for all subsequent programs bought at the same time.
Price for any one of !PolyDraw, !PolyNet, !Stellate £20
Price for both !PolyDraw and !PolyNet £35
Price for all three (when !Stellate is ready) £50
The additional data disks are £10 per disc of about 100 polyhedra, and the
set of A4 pages of draw files showing all the polyhedra collected together.
