  1. WIMP Directory setter
  2. =====================

  4. This utility allows the currently selected filing system
  5. directory (CSD) to be set easily from the desktop. Of course,
  6. no true RISC-OS application should be concerned with the CSD,
  7. but this is still useful for some older utilities and OS commands
  8. for which there is no WIMP equivalent (BASIC, SPOOL, SETTYPE etc).

  10. The program installs as normal on the icon bar.
  11.  
  12. Dragging folder icon onto the *DIR icon sets the CSD to that
  13. folder.
  14.  
  15. Dragging a file onto the *DIR icon sets the CSD to the directory
  16. holding that file.
  17.  
  18. "Auto" mode
  19. ===========

  21. If the "Auto" option on the icon bar menu is ticked, *DIR detects
  22. when directories are opened by double-clicking and automatically
  23. changes directory.  This option is of dubious value.
  24.  
  25. If you want to use "auto" mode by default, create a file "auto" in
  26. the !Dir application directory. (Install !Dir, drag the !Dir application
  27. from the disc onto the *Dir icon on the icon bar, press F12 then enter
  28. "create auto" and press return twice.)
