  4. !Zap is a multitasking desktop file transfer
  5. utility designed to transfer files between the 
  6. Archimedes and Z88 computer.                
  7.  
  8. For example you could use Archimedes discs for storing Z88 files. Transfer
  9. any ideas, data, text, you have into Archimedes applications.
  10.  
  11. Connecting cable
  12. ================

  14. Below are the cable/pin connections.

  44. The cable connects via the serial port on both machines.

  47. Loading !Zap
  48. ============

  50. To load, simply double click on the !Zap application from the filer
  51. window and the !Zap icon will install itself on the icon bar.

  54. Using !Zap
  55. ================

  57. MENU options
  58. ------------
  59.  
  60. Clicking MENU (middle mouse button) on the icon will pop up a menu with the  following options :
  61.  
  62.      Info    > This leads to a window giving information about the program.
  63.  
  64.      Options > This pops up another window allowing the user to set various
  65.                flags :
  66.  
  67.                Toggle between Archimedes to Z88 transfer / Z88 to Archimedes                transfer
  68.  
  69.                Set BAUD rate, press MENU (middle mouse button) on Baud Rate
  70.                icon for other values.
  71.      
  72.                Remove LF (CHR$10)
  73.                Remove CR (CHR$13)
  74.                Remove User Value
  75.                                   
  76.                Click OK when choice is made.

  78.      Quit    > Exits !Zap

  81. Other Values that need to be configured
  82. =======================================

  84. On both machines, make sure the following are configured :

  86. Z88

  89. Use the Z88 control panel to set the following.
  90.  
  91. No parity.
  92. Make sure the BAUD rate is equal to the Archimedes BAUD rate.

  94. Archimedes

  97. Configure DATA to 4
  98. Make sure the BAUD rate is equal to the Z88 BAUD rate.
  99.  
  100. Use '*CONFIGURE DATA 4' [RETURN] and then 'Control Break' to set the DATA.

  103. The Transfer
  104. ============
  105.  
  106. Once you have set the Options to how you wish the transfer to take place
  107. and you have the lead connected, the transfer can be done :

  109. Archimedes to Z88
  110. -----------------
  111.  
  112. When sending to the Z88 from the Archimedes, the !Zap icon on the iconbar
  113. will have an arrow pointing to the Z88.
  114.  
  115. To transfer, simply drop the file to be transfer from the filer window onto
  116. the !Zap icon. A window will appear, requesting you to make sure the Z88
  117. is ready to receive via the Z88 Import/Export facility. If so, click 'Start
  118. Transfer' to send the file. The transfer can be paused or aborted by clicking
  119. on the appropriate icon. The transfer is multitasking, so you do not have to wait for the machine to finish. Once the transfer is complete the window will dissapear, And you can begin another transfer if you
  120. wish.

  122. Z88 to Archimedes
  123. -----------------

  125. When sending to the Archimedes from the Z88, the !Zap icon on the iconbar will have an arrow pointing out of the Z88.

  127. To transfer, click on the !Zap icon. This will pop up a Save box. Now simply
  128. drag the icon to a filer window you wish to save to, a window will appear
  129. with a message stating the Archimedes is ready to receive. Now using the Z88
  130. Import/Export facility, you can send the file. The transfer is multitasking, so you do not have to wait for the machine to finish. Once the transfer is complete the window will dissapear, And you can begin
  131. another transfer if you wish.
