  6. Acorn New Look for All at Acorn World '93

  8. Acorn Computers, in conjunction with TDK, is to give away a free copy of
  9. the new application !NewLook to visitors attending the Acorn World exhibition,
  10. which takes place at the Wembley Exhibition Centre from the 29th to 31st
  11. October 1993.  This is yet another promotion in the continuing joint
  12. relationship between Acorn and TDK.

  14. !NewLook is an application designed for use with the RISC OS 3 operating system 
  15. running on any Archimedes computer, and provides the user with a new desktop 
  16. display featuring 3D icons and scroll bars, as well as a textured backdrop.

  18. As well as providing 15,000 floppy disks for the !NewLook giveaway, TDK is also 
  19. sponsoring the Acorn World Theatre presentations which will cover a wide range
  20. of subject areas. The timetable is listed below.

  22. Acorn World's Director, Kevin Coleman, said he believed those attending the
  23. show would be delighted to receive !NewLook. "There has been much speculation
  24. and anticipation over the official release of Acorn's 3D environment. For many
  25. visitors to Acorn World, this will form part of the icing on their cake!"

  27. !NewLook contains replacement template files for all ROM applications to give
  28. them 3D buttons. Loading these does not affect tasks such as the filer or the
  29. task manager which are already running.  
  30.  
  31. This new look is only recommended for users with hard discs, as modules need
  32. to be loaded at start-up and the result is aesthetic rather than functional.
  33. However, in future versions of RISC OS this new appearance is likely to become
  34. the default. The disc  also provides 3D template files for the two applications
  35. discs.
