  5. Acorn's Seriously Bad Debut at Gamesmaster Live
  6.  
  7. Acorn Computers' Seriously Bad Christmas tour is to make its debut at the
  8. Gamesmaster Live Show to be held at the Birmingham NEC from 4th to 6th
  9. December.

  11. Acorn will have a significant presence at the show which is a live version
  12. of Channel 4's popular computer games programme.  Parked in the middle of
  13. the stand will be Acorn's Seriously Bad exhibition trailer surrounded by a
  14. large games arcade running many of the 250-plus games currently available
  15. for the Acorn Archimedes range of computers.

  17. A particular feature of the show will be the Quest for Gold Challenge. Based
  18. on the successful track and field simulation game, contestants will be able
  19. to test their athletic prowess not only against each other, but also against
  20. leading members of the British athletics squad.  The game is based on a real
  21. life athletics training programme as devised by the Chafford Hundred group
  22. of athletes under the direction of Fatima Whitbread.  Indeed many of the top
  23. British athletes such as Linford Christie, Sally Gunnell, Steve Backley,
  24. Dalton Grant and Colin Jackson have been intimately involved with the game
  25. since its inception.

  27. Acorn's fully 32-bit RISC processors display such powerful  speed and
  28. graphics that games take on a totally new dimension.  Acorn computers -
  29. which are now found in nine out every ten schools in the UK - make the ideal
  30. machine for use in the home environment.  Not only can they run some of the
  31. best games, but they can be put to a wide range of other uses such as word
  32. processing, drawing, music, business packages and much else besides.

  34. Recognising that some parents may feel somewhat intimidated by the plethora
  35. of shoot-em-ups and simulations on show at the NEC, Acorn is coming to their
  36. rescue by providing a "safe haven" in the parents' creche. Here they can
  37. discover the wider benefits of owning a home computer and will be treated to
  38. demonstrations in an oasis of peace and quiet whilst the world blows up
  39. around them.

  41. Commenting on Acorn's presence at Gamesmaster Live, Acorn's Consumer
  42. Marketing Manager, Simon Lovesey said "We believe our presence at this show
  43. will improve the credibility of our computers amongst the games playing
  44. fraternity and open their eyes to the other features that should be
  45. available to home computer users."
