- Acorn Assist offers Personal Purchase Power to Teachers
-
- Acorn Computers, the leading supplier of computers to UK schools, is once
- more offering teachers, lecturers and others in the education community the
- opportunity to buy their own Acorn computer by taking advantage of its
- highly successful subsidised finance scheme, Acorn Assist. For the first
- time, those who take up the offer can now benefit from free software and
- collect points towards free gifts when they introduce a friend to the
- scheme.
-
- Acorn Assist has already enabled thousands in the educational world to
- spread the cost of buying a computer for all sorts of uses in the home, be
- it to support their professional work, to amuse their families, or even to
- run clubs or the PTA. Now, for the first time, the scheme has been expanded
- to cover the whole range of educational products, from the Pocket Book
- personal computer right through to the top-of-the-range A5000 Series.
-
- Details of this year's scheme, which is valid from 1 October 1993 until 31
- December 1993, are attached.
-
- Peter Talbot, Acorn's General Manager for UK Education, commented: "Our
- research shows that two thirds of teachers now use computers as part of
- their everyday classroom activity. Many of these would like to be able to
- prepare or catch up on work in the comfort of their own homes.
-
- "Acorn Assist has, in previous years, proved hugely popular as it offers
- those involved in education a finance option that makes sense because it is
- specifically designed to meet their needs. This year we're pleased to be
- able to offer even better value through extending the range of products
- available under the scheme, as well as including free software with every
- purchase. And now for the first time we're thanking those who have already
- purchased by rewarding them with points towards a selection of gifts when
- they introduce friends to the scheme."
-
- Details of Acorn Assist are being mailed directly to the education
- community. Those interested in purchasing through the scheme can telephone
- the free hotline number, 0800 400 800, to ask for an Assist pack. Then they
- simply contact their local Acorn dealer to agree their preferred model,
- price and finance details.
