** Welcome to the Outline Wimp desktop enhancement package by Andrew Sellors **
** **
*******************************************************************************
This software makes the Wimp of RISC OS 3.1x machines look more like that
found on newer machines by adding outline fonts to the desktop and providing
a Palette Utility replacement that has a RISC OS 3.5+ style mode picker plus
much much more.
Please read the !Help file in the !WimpPatch and !DeskCtrl applications and
the "Quick Installation Guide" at the end of this file before use.
Registering
-----------
This software is Shareware.
You may use it for a trial period of 30 days. If, after this you decide you
would like to continue using it then you are required to register.
Registering evolves sending 5 UKP plus your name, address and required disc
format (ie. 800k or 1600k) to me at:
Andrew Sellors,
57 Boundaries Road,
Feltham,
Middlesex,
TW13 5DR,
England
Please can you write your name clearly as it will be included in the programs.
If required, the registered version can be sent via email so if you prefer
that instead of a disc by snail mail then give my your email address instead.
Benefits of registering
-----------------------
The registered version a sprite to be tiled on the window backgrounds like the
windowmanager in RISC OS 3.5+. Different background colours can have different
tiles and tiles are selected depending on the colour depth of the mode to
provide optimum tiling speed.
Supporting the package by registering will encourage me to develop the patch
further. Possible additions are 3D menus and windows, open and closed
directory sprites etc.
Quick Instalation Guide
-----------------------
o Copy the !OutFiler and !WimpPatch applications out of the archive on to a
writable media such as a directory on your hard drive or a floppy disc with
at least 140k free.
o Double click on the !OutFiler and !WimpPatch applications that you just
copied, this will generate two new files in the same directory.
o Load the two new files, "NewWimp" and "NewFiler" as well as "outlnwimp" from
the archive _before_ the desktop starts, eg. as part of a !Boot sequence.
o Load !DeskCtrl when the patched desktop is running or as part of a !Boot
sequence.
o That's all it is, now you will have outline fonts and a new way of changing
modes.
