- See the files !Boot- and !DeskBoot- if you want to start up in the Wimp with
- TeX preloaded.
-
- \medskip
- Also, to run the previewer efficiently, you may prefer to alter some
- configuration parameters; these are what I use:
-
- \medskip
- {\smallrm \settabs 5 \columns
- \+ && FontSize & 384K \cr
- \+ && FontMax1 & 30 pixels \cr
- \+ && FontMax2 & 34 pixels \cr
- \+ && FontMax3 & 40 pixels \cr
- \+ && FontMax4 & 3 pixels \cr
- \+ && FontMax5 & 0 pixels \cr
- \+ && FontMax & 368k \cr
- \+ && WimpFlags & 255 \cr
- \+ && WimpMode & 12 \cr
- }

- Late News (from Graham Toal):
-
- \medskip
- 07-Aug-90: Current release has a problem with cmdunh10; the outline font
- file was corrupted and I've not been able to restore it yet. Also there is
- a known bug in output of pages to draw files, to do with positioning of
- rules.
-
- \bigskip
- ----
- Later News (from Wilfrid Kendall):
-
- \medskip
- 30-Jan-91: Here is Graham Toal's demo version of his ArMaTuReS distribution
- of TeX. It includes only a few fonts. In particular it does NOT include the
- maths fonts. However it is complete enough to show you how well the
- ArMaTuReS distribution works. Note that moving it to hard disc (altering
- !Boot and !Run files appropriately) leads to a considerable speed increase.
-
- \medskip
- In this demo version I have included my fix of the cmdunh10 problem
- mentioned above. Briefly, the outline font file has been reordered to
- conform to cmr10 ordering (which I presume was the ordering prior to
- corruption) and the cmr10 intmetrics file has been ``borrowed'' to be used
- as a cmdunh10 intmetrics file. However there still appear to be some bugs
- in the behaviour of cmdunh10 -- be warned!
-
- \medskip
- The ArMaTuReS distribution Preview claims to require the following modules
- in order to perform:
-
- \medskip
- {\smallrm \settabs 5 \columns
- \+ && FontManager & 2.50 \cr
- \+ && ColourTrans & 0.59 \cr
- \+ && SuperSample & 0.06 \cr
- }
-
- \medskip
- These are available from Graham Toal. HOWEVER I have found Preview works in
- an entirely satisfactory way using
-
- \medskip
- {\smallrm \settabs 5 \columns
- \+ && FontManager & 2.42 \cr
- \+ && ColourTrans & 0.59 \cr
- \+ && SuperSample & 0.06 \cr
- }
-
- \medskip
- (available for example on the RISCOS extras disc) and I have adapted the
- Preview !Run file of this demo version accordingly.
-
- \medskip
- Note that Preview allows one to save pages in Drawfile format, thus
- permitting a (slow) way of obtaining draft quality hardcopy. For hardcopy on
- laser printers et cetera you need to obtain the full ArMaTuReS distribution
- from Graham Toal or (via anonymous ftp) from phoibos.cs.kun.nl in directory
- /pub/ArMaTuReS.

- Useage:
-
- \medskip
- To work on a new document doc do the following:
- \item{i} create new folder doc,
- \item{ii} write TeX file into doc.tex,
- \item{iii} drag directory doc onto !TeX application icon,
- \item{iv} drag directory doc onto !Preview application icon.
