nc.intro:!NetConfig is designed to set up !TCPIP (KA9Q), !SLIPdial, !Newsbase, !NewsDir and !TTFN. There are many options in the individial applications which can be modified and tuned as you gain experience; this program simply aims to get you started.
nc.intro2:First you need to select your Internet provider - if not listed, choose Other.
nc.ready:All details now entered. Click on Configure to begin configuration of the Internet applications, or Redo if you want to modify anything.
nc.done:Configuration completed.
standard.modem:Select your modem. If not listed, choose "Other (ATZ)"; you will then need to set your modem options by hand.
standard.serial:Specify the serial connection between computer and modem.
standard.pulse:Select pulse dial if you have an old exchange requiring pulse dialling (clicks) rather than tones.
standard.prefix:Enter any prefix needed to dial, e.g. 9 for an outside line, or to use Mercury (132 or 131,xxxxxxxxxx where xxxxxxxxxx is your id)
standard.pops:Select the {{net_provider}} Points of Presence to put on your SLIPdial menu. If a new PoP has been added since !NetConfig was last updated, select Other and enter the number below.
standard.1pop:NetConfig only knows about one {{net_provider_name}} PoP, {{pop1}}. If another PoP has since been added which you would prefer to use, enter its number below.
standard.account:Enter your account name with {{net_provider_name}}.
standard.pop_pw:Enter the password for your POP3 mailbox.
standard.password:Enter the password needed to log in. If left blank, you will be prompted for it each time you log in.
standard.ip:Enter the numerical IP address issued to you by {{net_provider_name}}.
standard.mainuser:Enter a user ID for the main user of the system.
standard.realname:Enter the real name of the main user of the system.
standard.organization:Enter a short description of your site, to appear in mail messages.

Other.warn:As we don't have a ready-built provider profile, you will have to supply a number of details which should be in the documentation supplied by your provider.
Other.provname:Enter your provider's name (for documentation only)
Other.domain:Enter your provider's domain name, which may be something like foo-net.co.uk
Other.fixed:Does your provider assign you a fixed IP address (an IP address is a quartet of numbers such as 158.152.68.166), or are you assigned a different IP address dynamically each time you connect?
Other.mailprot:Is mail to you delivered by SMTP or do you have a POP3 mailbox? (Mail from you to the outside world is always sent by SMTP.)
Other.mailserv:Enter the name of the machine handling mail (may be something like post.{{net_domain}}).
Other.newsserv:Enter the name of the machine handling Usenet news (may be something like news.{{net_domain}})
Other.nameserv:Enter up to three numerical IP addresses of name servers. You must supply at least one.
Other.pops:Enter up to three alternative telephone numbers to connect to. Some small providers may only have a single number, in which case leave the others blank.
Other.done:The software has been configured as far as possible based on the information given. However, you must edit the file !SLIPdial.Scripts.NetSlip to negotiate the login sequence. I hope you get connected without too many problems.
Other.tellme:When you have your configuration sorted out, please send details of your provider to me at colin@nyphot.demon.co.uk so that I may include them in the next release.
