- Arkanoid II

- Much of my first year of A-Level Computing was spent playing a Public
- Domain game which had been converted from the C64 (I think) the game
- was the classic Arcade game Arkanoid. The game was so popular on the
- Network that one of the managers had to change the access of the high
- score table so it couldn't be written to (although that could have
- something to do with him being at the top?). So when a game called
- Arka-II appeared on a disc I was interested to see if they had managed
- to do a good job with this conversion. Upon loading a screen appeared
- which offered my infinite lives and it also let me choose which level
- I could start on, very nice, I thought seeing as it was my first go I
- WOULDN'T cheat. I played for about five minutes. Game Over, it's
- cheating time. This looks like a direct port from the 8-Bits which is
- a good thing as they were better (cheaper) than the Arcade version.
- It even includes the 'Imagine' logo (the company which converted the
- game to the home machines, but they where sadly merged with the now
- giant 'Ocean' software). How does it rate game play wise? The first
- game was the ultimate Bat and Ball game, but all the sequel has to offer
- is a bit more speed, a few extra bonuses and better graphics, which
- I think is enough to make this game essential to any Arch owner who
- can remember the good old days of computing.
