  15. After looking at Zool at the Acorn User show in
  16. Harrogate, I was disappointed to find out that the
  17. Archimedes version of the said game didn't have raster/
  18. copper bars, like the A*i*a version. Presented here is
  19. a patch that puts this right.

  22. The Patch
  23. =========

  25. The patch must be installed before loading Zool.  I
  26. * strongly *  suggest that you save all work on the
  27. desktop and quit applications before running the patch -
  28. this is because of the problems associated with the
  29. patch routine.
  30.  
  31. The patch routine will not work with all combinations
  32. of hardware, one side effect we have found is that on
  33. some machines, the floppy disk drives fail to work
  34. after loading the patch.  If this is the case, you'll
  35. have to run Zool/ZoolDemo from a hard disk or a RAM
  36. disk.

  38. To use the patch, Double click !ZoolPatch.  Then load Zool
  39. or the Zool demo, and once in the game, press F9 to 
  40. toggle the copper bars on and off, and press F10 to alter
  41. the background colours.

  43. Because the copper routine is processor intensive, the
  44. game may slow down at times - if this is the case, use
  45. a set of colours that have less colours in them.

  47. THE PATCH CANNOT BE KILLED, so after exiting Zool, or
  48. the Zool Demo, you are strongly advised to reset your
  49. machine
