Archimedes Cheat Manual Compiled by Dave Lodge Release: 1.06 Text Date: 30th November 1993 This document has been compiled by me to act as a full (as possible) compilation of all Archimedes cheats/bugs/pokes/passwords etc. I hope to keep it as up to date as possible - this is limited by time and money. Any contributions will be gratefully accepted. See below for details of getting hold of the latest version. This is the Text version. Other versions are available. I make no guarantee of the correctness of any cheats/bugs/pokes/passwords etc contained in this document, most have been taken out of magazines or the programs themselves. If you have any cheats not included in this document I would be very grateful if you could send them to me ;) If you include a disc I will send you the latest version of this manual. Also write if you can tell me how to get some of the mentioned cheats working. Where I can't get a cheat to work I have indicated it. I haven't been able to check all cheats (I don't have all the games!) Your name will appear as 'WRONG...' Next game you will have 15 lives and all power-ups from the start. Air Supremacy Passwords 1918 n/a 1944 SCRAMBLE 1991 STACCATO 2150 EQUANIMITY Alerion Cheat mode - When the High Score table is shown press any key from 'A' to 'O' to start on that level. Infinite lives - ?&2749C = 0 Apocalypse Cheat modes - On the level/player selection screen, move the mouse to the crystal at the top of the Apocalypse logo. Imagine the mouse buttons are numbered like this: 'SELECT' 1 'MENU' 2 'ADJUST' 4 Holding down various combinations of buttons activates a different numbered cheat mode, according to the sum of the held down buttons. The cheat mode levels run from 1 to 7, although 5 to 7 are the same. As the cheat level gets higher so the better the cheats become. On all cheat levels you can select any planet to start at. At cheat levels 3 and higher the shield charge increases, at levels 3 and higher you have rapid fire, and the gun temperature cooler improves in cheat levels up to 4. It is a bit tricky to select any particular level, so a way to get cheat level 5 (the best) is provided, which is to press 'Z' to continue instead of 'SPACE' when you insert the levels disc. Level skip - Independant of the above cheat, during the game hold down 'SHIFT' and type in 'ELIZA' to go to the next level. You should now have infinite lives. Credits - Play the first level several times, but make sure you die before the end of it. When you finally complete the level you should have loads of credits. This only works on versions bought before June 1991. Bughunter Addresses 1 - 4 98 Acorn Avenue 5 - 8 23 Castle Road 9 - 16 42 Ford Street 17 - 24 14 Brumley Estate 25 + 31 Brumley Estate Bughunter in Space Passwords 1 - 4 HUMANOID 5 - 8 ADAMSKI 13 - 16 SUGGS 17 + POSDNUOS C Cataclysm Cheat mode - During the game you may press 'C' to progress onto the next level. Chaos See Spheres of Chaos Chuck Rock Flying - On the title screen type in 'PINKYANDPERKY'. This will allow you to fly in the game if you hold the 'F' key. Invulnerability - On the title screen type in 'ERMINTRUDE'. This will make you invulnerable. Be warned - you can still drown. Cycloids Level jump - To access the doors which allow you to skip to levels 5, 10, 15 and 20, open up the '!Cycloids' application and go into the 'MiscData' directory. Load the file 'LSStuff' into Edit, delete the only byte here and replace it with the required level skip (ie hold down 'ALT' and type in '5', '10', '15' or '20' on the keypad) and then save it. D DropShip Passwords A n/a D DAHLIA G GAGGLE J KAUNDA M NAUTCH E E-Type Bugs - 1) If you come to a halt directly under a time bonus then you will receive the time bonus every few seconds. 2) Select to race 'All Tracks' then, during the game, slam on the breaks with about 1 second left on the clock. The screen should go crazy and on the next course your distance travelled should be increased by a few 10s of kilometres. Ego See Repton 4. Enter the Realm Infinite lives - On the screen where you are asked to press fire, while holding CTRL and SHIFT, press fire. It will then ask you to press fire again, so let go of the keys and press fire to start. You now have infinite lives. (I cannot get this to work!) Bug - In the forest instead of going to the church, go straight to the cave. You will meet the priest as when you go to the church, but at the cave instead. You can now withstand more hits. Guile Planet names 1 TROGLODYTES 2 AULDENBARREN 3 CHILLIANOSON 4 BANKINONITT 5 CIRIUS-EYESORE 6 TRIPINOVA H Heroquest Cheat mode - Set up the names of the characters as follows: Barbarian: MELINDA Dwarf: JULIE Elf: RUTH Wizard: SUZIE Now when you enter a quest a bag icon will light up. Clicking on this will allow you to do various things. (I can't get this to work) Holed Out Accuracy - When the power bar is moving, hold 'CTRL' to slow it down, and 'SHIFT-CTRL' or 'SCROLL LOCK' to stop it completely. Hostages Level jump - When the letters of the title screen fall down onto the screen hold down the keys forming the word 'HURT'. You can now start on any level. HoverBod Cheat modes - 1) During the game hold down both 'SHIFT' keys and the '/' key on the keypad. This will freeze all the monsters. 2) Also, if you hold down both 'SHIFT' keys and the '*' key on the keypad you will jump to the last section of the game, but cheat 1) will not work. Passwords 1 MINERVAS 2 SIRBARRY 3 ZOTYBLOB 4 FLUMPIES 5 SQUIDGEE 6 WOBBLIES 7 POSSKETT I Ibix the Viking: Passwords 1 n/a 2 SUBJUNCTIVE 3 DICTIONARY 4 CONSEQUENCE 5 INTERPRETED 6 DEVELOPMENT 7 ETIQUETTE 8 INFORMATION Ixion Cheat mode - Log onto the skeleton system and type 'WOW WHAT A GREAT GAME'. You will become virtually invincible. Hints - Log onto the skeleton system and type 'HELP HINTS N TIPS' J James Pond Cheat Mode - Pause the game (using 'TAB') and type in the following: 'YNGWIE J MALMSTEEN'. The words 'CHEAT MODE ON' should now appear under the 'PAUSED' legend. You will now be invunerable. Also by pressing one of the number keys '1' to '0' in the main alphanumeric section of the keyboard, or one of the keys '1' or '2' in the numeric keypad, you will complete the current mission with the minimum required number of objects. You will then go the mission corresponding to the key pressed, where '1' to '9' in the alphanumeric section directly correspond to the mission number, '0' is mission 10, '1' in the keypad is mission 11, and '2' in the keypad is mission 12. If you re-enter an already completed mission, you will enter it without the briefing information, it will be mostly empty, and you will leave it without the bonus score information. Pressing '3' on the numeric keypad will send you immediately to the end game congratulations screen, without completing the current level. The cheat will last until you press 'RETURN' or until the end of the game, when you can activate the cheat again. Score - !&B704 = <score> !&B708 = <score> K Kaptain Konflict Passwords 1 MARBLE 2 SPEAKER 3 STATIC 4 IMPACT 5 MOBILE L Lemmings Level skip - Enter as a password 'IAMNOTGOOD'. This will allow you to skip levels by pressing 'SPACE' during play. Quit disable - Enter as a password 'LEMSATSHOW'. This will disable the 'Return to desktop' icon, for when the game is demonstrated at shows. Hidden levels - Enter the level skip password, then the password for the final level given below. Then use 'SPACE' to skip through the levels. You will have to skip the same level 40 times until you reach level 11 of 'Player h'. Levels 11 to 30 of this group are the 20 extra levels included in two player versions of the game on other computers. Unfortunately the Archimedes version doesn't have the two player functionality, but the levels are still playable. Note that this method is the only way to reach these levels, as the passwords you receive for them contain characters which you cannot type in. Now hold down the keys forming the word 'LV426' (the name of the planet in Alien!) simultaneously. The border around the word 'PAUSED' will change from white to blue. Now you can use the following keys to do various effects: Key Effect 'F5' Toggle infinite energy ** 'F6' Toggle invincibility ** 'F7' Infinite lives ** 'F8' Skip to next screen ** 'F9' Toggle hidden object pointer ** 'F10' Save screen to disc 'F11' Toggle slow motion ** 'F12' Skip to next level ** *The weapon word consists of a word with bits set for each weapon, the bits are taken from the order of the weapons on the screen, ie bit 0 is the staff, bit 1 is the Nunchakas etc. **This effect will only happen when the game is paused... The Lost Temple Cheat mode - Before running the game press 'F12' and type in '*MemoryA 0 1' and press 'RETURN' twice to return to the desktop. Run the game as normal, and the words 'Cheat Mode On' should appear on the top right hand corner of the screen. You can now access any level from 1 to 10, and (I think) you have extra energy. Then instead of clicking on the 'Start Game' option click on 'Redefine Keys'. When asked whether you want to redefine your keys press 'N' and you will be returned to the option screen. Now you can click on 'Start Game' without needing to type in the password. O Oh No! More Lemmings Level skip - Enter as a password 'FIDDLECODE'. This will allow you to skip levels by pressing 'SPACE' during play. Quit disable - Enter as a password 'BANTHEDESK'. This will disable the 'Return to desktop' icon, for when the game is demonstrated at shows. Hidden levels - Enter the level skip password, then the password for the final level given below. Then use 'SPACE' to skip through the levels. You will have to skip the same level 40 times until you reach level 1 of 'mmings'. Levels 1 to 10 of this group are the 10 extra levels included in two player versions of the game on other computers. Unfortunately the Archimedes version doesn't have the two player functionality, but the levels are still playable. Note that this method is the only way to reach these levels, as the passwords you receive for them contain characters which you cannot type in.
