  4. Impact! is a general purpose database management program, having data import
  5. and export facilities utilizing the new draft Acorn C.S.V. file standard.
  6. This allows instant data transfer to and from spread sheet applications, such
  7. as Pipedream, Squirrel, etc, via direct RAM transfer where available.
  8.  
  9. Being fully RISC-OS compliant, it is suitable for any Acorn computer running 
  10. RISC-OS 2 or 3, having one M.Byte or more of memory, including the A4, A3010, 
  11. A4000, A5000 and A540, etc, and will run in any screen mode.
  12.  
  13. It allows databases to be constructed by dragging the required field types
  14. from a menu window onto a data record card, which may be fully customised
  15. with user defined legends and boxes, in any shape or colour.
  16.  
  17. Powerfull data filters may be defined and saved. These may be further combined
  18. via AND, OR, and NOR functions etc, allowing complex data selections to be 
  19. easily built, just by making menu selections.
  20.  
  21. Multiple indexes may be contructed and saved, based on any file field, and 
  22. these may have filters applied enabling selected sorting to be carried out
  23. with ease.

  25. Impact! also incorporates facilities to make use of the Impulse module, 
  26. produced by Computer Concepts. This public domain module allows easy data 
  27. exchange between participating desktop applications, using the RISC-OS 
  28. message protocols.

  30. These facilities allow Impact! to merge data from the user's custom designed
  31. databases, into Impression, and other programs. Facilities are also included
  32. to simplify the construction of merged documents by simply dragging Impact! 
  33. data fields from the data card to the document, and to insert other commands
  34. by menu selection, and icon dragging.

  36. Using the above facilities an infinite variety of reports, mail merge letters,
  37. etc, may be produced, almost entirely by menu selections and mouse dragging,
  38. making Impact! the most easy to use database available.
