That's all the boring stuff over and done with, now I can explain how the program works. By the way, please feel free to alter this program however you like, it you break it, tough, if you fix any bugs, can I please have a copy? Right... When you first receive this software package PROtek will have been adapted to prevent it booting up. Before doing anything, it is essential to take a back up. You could just create another directory on the disc and copy the two programs into this. The reason that it is essential is becuase if you bugger up the program/forget the password/etc.. you'll be buggered. If you forget your password mail me and I'll tell you how to decrypt the password file. Once you have made a back-up you should 'SHIFT-double-click' the !PROtek directory and then double click the 'Files' directory. Inside here is the sub-workings of the program, the 'Data File' datafile contains your password and so on, the Reset code is the ARM-code to reset the computer when you get the passwrong, and the templates file is the window deffinitions. Leave this window open and now load !PROconfig. When you are asked to drag the 'Data File' into the window do just that. Okay, you're now ready to change the password from the default to your own. __________________________________________________________________________ Page 2. When you first get this software the default password is 'HELLO', and the code is '12345'. Please note that passwords are case sensative. The default override code is '1122334455'. All these are now going to be changed! You should now see in front of you the PROtek Configuration window. This has about Six writable icons. With the caret positioned in the 'Old Password:' icon you should enter the old password. If this is the first time you have used PROtek then this password will be 'HELLO', now press RETURN. The caret will move on to the 'Old Code' icon, in to here you should type '12345'. Note: All characters will be displayed as *'s or -'s. ~~~~~ You are now ready to change the password to one of you own choosing. The caret will now move on the the 'New Password' icon. enter your new password in here, and REMEMBER IT. Now enter your new 'Code' and press RETURN. The caret will move to the Override code. This code is needed in order to write the new settings back to the file. Initally this is set at '1122334455' but can be changed by altering the 'FileChk' file, ensuring that you leave the 'ÿ' at the end. __________________________________________________________________________ Page 3. Once you have entered the override code you can, if you wish, change the owner details. If you do then DO NOT press RETURN after entering the override code, instead click in the owner name icon, delete the contents and replace it with your own name. Now click in the override code icon and press return again. The PROconfig window should now close and the new settings will be written back to the file. Your new password and code have now been written to the PROtek file, and now this is the password and code you will need in order to get out of PROtek. You can now test your new password by double-clicking on the !PROtek icon. Now enter your new password and code. Play around with this! See what happends if you get the password wrong a few times! (Save all work first!!) Now you need !PROtek to boot up automatically. To do this load !PROtek's !Boot file into edit or something and take out the '|' where indicated. Now, whenever you open the directory with !PROtek in it will boot up, and you'll have to enter the password. WARNING:- PROtek will only boot up once. If you have multiple copies of PROtek rename them so they all have different names, this will ensure that each one boots up, but each one will only boot up once!!! ~~~~ ___________________________________________________________________________ Page 4.
