- @01 Introduction
- ------------

- Label is a simple data base; you can use it to
- create and edit archives of adddress and print
- labels on fanfold paper.
- This application has been designed to operate in
- the multi-tasking window environment of the RISC
- -OS Desktop.
- File type &53D is utilised by this application for
- any datafiles used. However, the files are
- essentially ASCII or text files, and therefore
- compatible with !Edit and a wide rande of other
- applications.

- @02 Application loading
- -------------------

- Insert Label disc in the drive. Click with Select
- on the drive icon in the icon bar to open the disc
- directory window. Double click with Select on the
- !Label or Label datafile icon. The application
- instal its icon in the icon bar.

- @03 Making new archives
- -------------------
-
- Click with Select on the application icon in the
- iconbar to open the Label window. Then you follow
- the next instructions.

- @04 Record adding
- -------------

- Click with Select on the card-shaped icon with "+"
- sign in the right top corner of the Label window.
- Then type in the six fields of the record and
- press Return after any inserting.

- @05 Record editing
- --------------

- Click with Select on the field writable icon and
- move the caret using Delete and arrow keys. After
- any modifications press Return. To delete all text
- press Ctrl+U.

- @06 Record search
- -------------
-
- Click with Menu on the Label window to display the
- main menu. Then click with Select on the "Search"
- item to display the Search window.
- Click with Select on a button to choice the search
- field. At last click with Select on the "String"
- writable icon, type in the search string and press
- Return.
- To see the found records click with Select on the
- arrow-shaped icons in the Search window.

- @07 Display records
- ---------------

- Click with Select on the left arrow-shaped icon in
- the Label window to move forward one record. Click
- with Adjust to display the last record.
- To move back one record click with Select on right
- arrow-shaped icon. Click with Adjust to display
- the first record.

- @08 Delete record
- -------------

- Click with Select on the "Delete" item in main
- menu. In the dialog box showed click on "NO"
- button to abort the command. Click on "YES" button
- to delete the displayed record.

- @09 Mark record
- -----------

- Click with Select on the printer-shaped icon in
- the Label window to left the displayed record out
- of the printing. To left all records out of the
- printing click with Select on the "Mark" item in
- the main menu. Click with Select on the ticked
- "Mark" icon in the main menu to print all records.

- @10 Records printing
- ----------------

- Click with Select on the "Print" item in the main
- menu to display the Print window.
- In the "From record" writable icon type in the
- number of the first record to print and press
- Return. In the "to record" writable icon type in
- the number of the last record and press Return.
- The "Records" icon display the total number of the
- records to print.
- Click with Select on the "Labels" button to print
- the records on a fanfond with 1 or 2 columns and
- 8 or 16 labels (size 100x36.1 mm) for page.
- Click on the "List" button to print the records
- list on a standard fanfold.
- Click with Select on the "1 column" button if you
- use an one column fanfold.
- Click on the "2 columns" button if you use a two
- columns fanfold.
- Click with Select on the the "Print" button to
- start the printing. Click on the "Cancel" button
- to abort the option.
- During the printing press the Escape key to stop
- it or click with Select on the "Stop" button in
- "Printing" window.

- @11 Datafile info
- -------------

- Select the "File info" item in the main menu to
- display the File info window.

- @12 Datafile loading
- ----------------

- Drag the Label datafile icon to the application
- icon in the iconbar or to the Label window.
- On double clicking on the Label datafile icon it's
- also possible load it.

- @13 Datafile saving
- ---------------

- In the main menu move the pointer on the "Save"
- item arrow to open the Save window. Type in a
- valid file name and drag the data file icon from
- the Save window to a directory viewer. To save a
- loaded datafile click with Select on the "OK"
- button in the Save window or click on the "Save"
- item in the main menu.
- @14 Datafile auto-saving
- --------------------

- This option lets you automatically save an edited
- datafile at regular intervals.
- In the Save window switch on the "Active" button,
- type in a number between 1 and 99 in the "Every
- minutes" writable icon and press Return.
- The auto-save timer only starts when you edit the
- datafile.
- At each time interval an alert box prompts you.
- Click on the "YES" button to save the datafile.
- Click on the "NO" button to postpose the saving
- and restart the auto-save timer.

- @15 Help utility
- ------------

- Click with Select on the "Help" item in the icon
- bar menu to load the Applications Info Utility.
- For further help on using Label use the Acorn
- !Help application found on RISC-OS Applications
- Disc 1.

- @16 Quit application
- ----------------

- In the icon bar menu click with Select on the
- "Quit" item. If the datafile is edited but not
- saved an alert box prompts you. Click on the "YES"
- button to save the datafile. On clicking on the
- "NO" button you quit the application and lose all
- data.
