  1. @01 Introduction

  4. Label  is  a simple data base; you can use  it  to
  5. create  and  edit archives of adddress  and  print
  6. labels on fanfold paper.
  7. This  application has been designed to operate  in
  8. the  multi-tasking window environment of the  RISC
  9. -OS Desktop.
  10. File type &53D is utilised by this application for
  11. any  datafiles  used.   However,   the  files  are
  12. essentially  ASCII  or text files,  and  therefore
  13. compatible  with  !Edit and a wide rande of  other
  14. applications.

  21. @02 Application loading
  22. -------------------

  24. Insert  Label disc in the drive. Click with Select
  25. on the drive icon in the icon bar to open the disc
  26. directory  window. Double click with Select on the
  27. !Label  or  Label datafile icon.  The  application
  28. instal its icon in the icon bar.

  31. @03 Making new archives

  34. Click  with Select on the application icon in  the
  35. iconbar  to open the Label window. Then you follow
  36. the next instructions.

  41. @04 Record adding

  44. Click with Select on the card-shaped icon with "+"
  45. sign  in the right top corner of the Label window.
  46. Then  type  in  the six fields of the  record  and
  47. press Return after any inserting.

  54. Click  with Select on the field writable icon  and
  55. move  the caret using Delete and arrow keys. After
  56. any modifications press Return. To delete all text
  57. press Ctrl+U.

  64. Click with Menu on the Label window to display the
  65. main  menu. Then click with Select on the "Search"
  66. item to display the Search window.
  67. Click with Select on a button to choice the search
  68. field.  At last click with Select on the  "String"
  69. writable icon, type in the search string and press
  70. Return.
  71. To  see the found records click with Select on the
  72. arrow-shaped icons in the Search window.

  81. @07 Display records

  84. Click with Select on the left arrow-shaped icon in
  85. the Label window to move forward one record. Click
  86. with Adjust to display the last record.
  87. To move back one record click with Select on right
  88. arrow-shaped  icon.  Click with Adjust to  display
  89. the first record.

  91. @08 Delete record

  94. Click  with  Select on the "Delete" item  in  main
  95. menu.  In the  dialog  box  showed  click  on "NO"
  96. button to abort the command. Click on "YES" button
  97. to delete the displayed record.

  101. @09 Mark record

  104. Click  with  Select on the printer-shaped icon  in
  105. the  Label window to left the displayed record out
  106. of  the  printing. To left all records out of  the
  107. printing  click with  Select on the "Mark" item in
  108. the  main  menu. Click with Select on  the  ticked
  109. "Mark" icon in the main menu to print all records.

  111. @10 Records printing

  114. Click  with Select on the "Print" item in the main
  115. menu to display the Print window.
  116. In  the  "From record" writable icon type  in  the
  117. number  of  the  first record to print  and  press
  118. Return.  In the "to record" writable icon type  in
  119. the  number  of the last record and press  Return.
  120. The "Records" icon display the total number of the
  121. records to print.
  122. Click  with Select on the "Labels" button to print
  123. the records  on a fanfond  with 1 or 2 columns and
  124. 8 or 16 labels (size 100x36.1 mm) for page.
  125. Click on  the "List"  button to  print the records
  126. list on a standard fanfold.
  127. Click  with Select on the "1 column" button if you
  128. use an one column fanfold.
  129. Click on  the  "2 columns" button if you use a two
  130. columns fanfold.
  131. Click  with Select  on  the the  "Print" button to
  132. start the printing. Click  on the "Cancel"  button
  133. to abort the option.
  134. During  the printing press the Escape key to  stop
  135. it  or click with  Select on the  "Stop" button in
  136. "Printing" window.

  141. @11 Datafile info

  144. Select  the  "File info" item in the main menu  to
  145. display the File info window.

  151. @12 Datafile loading

  154. Drag the  Label datafile  icon to  the application
  155. icon in the iconbar or to the Label window.
  156. On double clicking on the Label datafile icon it's 
  157. also possible load it.

  161. @13 Datafile saving
  162. ---------------

  164. In  the  main menu move the pointer on the  "Save"
  165. item  arrow  to  open the Save window. Type  in  a
  166. valid  file name and drag the data file icon  from
  167. the  Save window to a directory viewer. To save  a
  168. loaded  datafile  click  with Select on  the  "OK"
  169. button  in the Save window or click on the  "Save"
  170. item in the main menu.
  171. @14 Datafile auto-saving
  172. --------------------

  174. This  option lets you automatically save an edited
  175. datafile at regular intervals.
  176. In  the Save window switch on the "Active" button,
  177. type  in  a number between 1 and 99 in the  "Every
  178. minutes" writable icon and press Return.
  179. The  auto-save timer only starts when you edit the
  180. datafile.
  181. At  each  time interval an alert box prompts  you.
  182. Click  on  the "YES" button to save the  datafile.
  183. Click on  the "NO" button  to postpose  the saving
  184. and restart the auto-save timer.

  191. @15 Help utility

  194. Click  with Select on the "Help" item in the  icon
  195. bar menu to load the Applications Info Utility.
  196. For  further  help  on using Label use  the  Acorn
  197. !Help  application  found on RISC-OS  Applications
  198. Disc 1.

  201. @16 Quit application
  202. ----------------

  204. In  the  icon  bar menu click with Select  on  the
  205. "Quit"  item.  If the datafile is edited  but  not
  206. saved an alert box prompts you. Click on the "YES"
  207. button  to  save the datafile. On clicking on  the
  208. "NO" button you quit  the application and lose all
  209. data.
