  4.                   Viewsheet ROM conversion for Archimedes

  10.     This program is designed to convert the BBC ROM version of Viewsheet for
  11. the Archimedes with 6502 Emulator and to create an application directory for
  12. it to be run from the desktop. It was written by request after I had produced
  13. a similar application for the View wordprocessor.

  15.     As well as allowing the program to run on the Arc. this will also
  16. give an improvement over the Compact and Archimedes versions because of
  17. the changes which have been made.
  18.

  20. 1.    The '£' key works correctly and returns ascii 96 to make it file
  21.       compatible with BBC files. The left "`" key is translated to a right
  22.       "'" for the same reason. The '£' symbol is therefore correctly
  23.       displayed on screen if you are editing an old BBC file.

  25. 2.    The function keys are in the right place, ie. you no longer need
  26.       to use the PRINT key for F0 and your BBC keystrip can be cut into
  27.       three pieces and stuck to a piece of card to be correct for the Arc.

  29.     To use the program you must get a copy of your BBC ROM onto an Archimedes
  30. disc. For obvious copyright reasons I can't supply this. Then open the
  31. application directory by holding down SHIFT and double clicking on the icon.
  32. Copy your BBC ROM into the directory and make sure that it is named VSHEET,
  33. rename it if necessary. Now double click on the '!Convert' icon and a new
  34. file 'ArcViewSht' will be created. You can now delete your original VSHEET
  35. from the directory. The new Viewsheet can be run from the desktop by double
  36. clicking on the application icon.

  38.     The *EXEC file 'SHEET' is called when the application is started and you
  39. can edit this to contain your setup requirements for Viewsheet. The current
  40. directory is set to the sub-directory 'Doc' by the !Run file and you could
  41. also change this.

  43.     When you finish with Viewsheet you will find that the "`" key is now
  44. shown as "£". To correct this type '*ALPHABET LATIN1' at the OS prompt.

  47.     The program to assemble the 'patch' is in the !Convert directory and 6502
  48. programmers can change this to suit themselves. The same techniques could be
  49. used to modify other ROMs. If you have any of these I will be happy to try to
  50. get them running if you send me a copy of the ROM on disc for me to work on.

  52.     This program has only been tested on Viewsheet version B1.0. If you have
  53. another version and it works please let me know.
