- Viewsheet ROM conversion for Archimedes

-
- This program is designed to convert the BBC ROM version of Viewsheet for
- the Archimedes with 6502 Emulator and to create an application directory for
- it to be run from the desktop. It was written by request after I had produced
- a similar application for the View wordprocessor.
-
- As well as allowing the program to run on the Arc. this will also
- give an improvement over the Compact and Archimedes versions because of
- the changes which have been made.
-
-
- 1. The '£' key works correctly and returns ascii 96 to make it file
- compatible with BBC files. The left "`" key is translated to a right
- "'" for the same reason. The '£' symbol is therefore correctly
- displayed on screen if you are editing an old BBC file.
-
- 2. The function keys are in the right place, ie. you no longer need
- to use the PRINT key for F0 and your BBC keystrip can be cut into
- three pieces and stuck to a piece of card to be correct for the Arc.
-
- To use the program you must get a copy of your BBC ROM onto an Archimedes
- disc. For obvious copyright reasons I can't supply this. Then open the
- application directory by holding down SHIFT and double clicking on the icon.
- Copy your BBC ROM into the directory and make sure that it is named VSHEET,
- rename it if necessary. Now double click on the '!Convert' icon and a new
- file 'ArcViewSht' will be created. You can now delete your original VSHEET
- from the directory. The new Viewsheet can be run from the desktop by double
- clicking on the application icon.
-
- The *EXEC file 'SHEET' is called when the application is started and you
- can edit this to contain your setup requirements for Viewsheet. The current
- directory is set to the sub-directory 'Doc' by the !Run file and you could
- also change this.
-
- When you finish with Viewsheet you will find that the "`" key is now
- shown as "£". To correct this type '*ALPHABET LATIN1' at the OS prompt.
-
-
- The program to assemble the 'patch' is in the !Convert directory and 6502
- programmers can change this to suit themselves. The same techniques could be
- used to modify other ROMs. If you have any of these I will be happy to try to
- get them running if you send me a copy of the ROM on disc for me to work on.
-
- This program has only been tested on Viewsheet version B1.0. If you have
- another version and it works please let me know.
