  2. (1000 Mbyte) Tapestreamer for just ú3999 + VAT (ú4030 inclusive from

  5. Å   A480æs are here! Ö By the time you read this it should be possible to
  6. buy from Atomwide (ú850 + VAT) or through Archive (approx ú890 inclu
  7. sive) a 4 to 8 Mbyte upgrade for A440æs and A440/1 (or upgraded 410æs
  8. and 420æs). The reason that 300 series computers are excluded is that it
  9. uses the coprocessor slot on the backplane to get at all the necessary
  10. address lines. One board therefore plugs into the backplane and the
  11. other connects to the existing MEMC socket. The board should be low
  12. consumption because it uses eight 4Mbit chips to provide the extra 4
  13. Mbytes instead of the thirtytwo 1Mbit chips making up the existing 4
  14. Mbytes. The boards are öright way upò, unlike some other memory
  15. upgrades, as this aids air flow and reduces the likelihood of
  16. overheating.

  18. Å   Better Multisync at lower price Ö Eizo used to supply a lowradiation,
  19. low static multisync monitor (the 9060SZ) at about ú40 more than the
  20. 9060S. They have now discontinued the 9060S and brought the price of the
  21. SZ down to the same price. Also, because of larger quantities that we
  22. are now buying, we have been able to increase the discount. The 9060SZ
  23. is now available at ú530 (or ú510 if you buy it at the same time as an
  24. A410 or A3000).

  26. Å   Careware N╝6 contains Application maker, Scientific calculator,
  27. StickyBD, Sparkplug, Desktop utilities, Wordpro <Ö> FWPlus converter,
  28. RFSmod for CC ROM podule, 17 Maestro files (ancient & modern), Hangman
  29. (very graphic!), Connect 5 (oneupmanship?) & Polymos (based on ancient
  30. chinese game).

  32. Å   Shareware N╝7 updated Ö Thanks to Eric Ayers, Shareware 7 is now
  33. updated to volume 3, issue 6. Also, the data is now compatible with
  34. Arcscan II (ú17 through Archive). We will put the data on this monthæs
  35. program disc and on the Archive bulletin board. We cannot update old
  36. Shareware 7 discs free of charge because of the huge amount of admin
  37. involved if several hundred readers sent their discs in for update.
  38. Either send us a donation to charity when you send in your old S/W7 for
  39. updating, or just order a new S/W7 at ú3 Ö hardly an excessive charge if
  40. you add up the cost of the disc plus postage and packing plus an admin
  41. charge!

  44. various !Draw files containing 3 drawn fonts and a number of coloured

  54. Å   Cheaper ST506 drives for A410 Ö We are now stocking Oak Computers
  55. ST506 drives for 400/1 series computers. They are slightly slower access
  56. speeds (28 ms) than the Computerware ones (22 or 24 ms) but also
  57. slightly cheaper: ú210, ú330 and ú410 for 20M, 40M and 47M respectively
  58. as compared to ú230, ú420 and ú510.

  60. Å   Colour Digitiser from Wild Vision Ö a new colour digitiser including
  61. öFastGrabò software is now available from Wild Vision at an introductory
  62. price of ú339 +VAT (or ú360 inclusive through Archive). We have had a
  63. look at it and it seems very impressive especially at the introductory
  64. price. This price is to be reviewed at the end of April. More details
  65. are available in the comment column on page 13.

  68. their range of discs of images for use in DTP to five at ú8.99 each or
  69. various discount prices for different numbers of discs.

  71. Å   GINO is here! Ö Fortran users will be pleased to hear that Intelligent
  72. Interfaces have produced GINO (ú750 + VAT) in the form of three modules:
  73. GINOÖF 3D which is a library of over 200 usercallable Fortran subrou
  74. tines including basic line and arc drawing, characters and symbols,
  75. colour, line styles, full 3D transformations, windowing, projections and
  76. viewing; GINOGRAF which provides advanced facilities for producing
  77. graphs, histograms and pie charts by simple automatic call instructions
  78. or more complex and flexible routines; and GINOSURF which displays 3D
  79. data as contour maps or surface views with hidden line removal.

  81. Å   Impression with no dongle? Ö In response to popular demand, Computer
  82. Concepts have decided that it will release an educational network
  83. version of Impression that does not require a dongle. This version will
  84. be licenced to the particular school and will only run on their
  85. networked machines. (This is separate from, but complementary to, the
  86. existing offer of conventional Édongledæ Impressions where schools
  87. buying 10 or more copies pay only ú60 + VAT per copy.)

  98. is aimed at individual or club accounts. It features multiple bank
  99. accounts, direct debits and a range of editing and searching facilities.
  100. The number of entries is limited only by memory capacity e.g. 1 Mbyte
  101. A3000 would give you over 20,000 entries. (If it is as good as their
  102. Account Book program or their Invoice Program then I suspect they have
  103. underpriced it at ú14.95. I hope to have a review copy soon.)

  105. Å   Prices down again! Ö In line with our general policy of keeping prices
  106. down as much as possible, Norwich Computer Services have reduced the
  107. prices of binders, for example, by a whole 50p!!! Seriously though, what
  108. we have done is to try to make things simpler for ourselves (and for
  109. you) by making all our prices multiples of ú1. This means that most of
  110. the items on the price list that were ún.50 are now ún.

  112. Å   Rotor Ö Getting in a Spin Ö a new game from a new supplier, Active
  113. Sales, is available for ú24.99 (or ú23 through Archive). Active are not
  114. new to the games scene having started on Amiga and ST but are now to
  115. moving into the Archimedes area. Their first offering is a very
  116. intricate looking space maze game, a little like Caverns from Minerva
  117. Software.

  119. Å   VIDC enhancer from Atomwide (ú30 +VAT or ú35 through Archive) is a
  120. hardware modification which increases the speed of the clock on the VIDC
  121. so that you can increase the amount of information displayed on the
  122. screen. Basically it will give you a range of extra modes in 2, 4 or 8
  123. colours, up to the same resolution as the high res mono output on the
  124. A400 series machines.

  126. Å   !Works #1 Ö Jim Markland has produced a prgrammersæs toolbox to enable
  127. you to output DXF files compatible with !Draw. These files can be read
  128. by humans(!), merged, editted etc and ported across to other computers.
