  3. This program is Shareware.
  4. This means that you can copy this program to anyone you like, but if you
  5.    find the program useful, you should register, as explained below. This
  6.    entitles you to the latest version of this program, and of all my other
  7.    applications.

  10. Purpose
  11. -------
  12. A suite of utilities.
  13.

  15. To use
  16. ------
  17. Bin - Drag a file or directory onto this icon, and a window will open
  18. asking you if you are sure you wish to delete that file/directory. Click on
  19. the OK icon if you are sure, else click on the Cancel icon. (N.B. WILL
  20. delete locked files, and will also delete a directory if it is the CSD, by
  21. changing the CSD. The CSD will ONLY be changed if the directory to be
  22. deleted is the CSD.)

  24. Set-Type - Drag a file onto this icon, and a window will open showing the
  25. filename, and asking you for the new type. Enter the type in the necessary
  26. icon, and press RETURN. This will *SetType the file accordingly.

  28. Bas-Edit - Drag a file onto this icon to load it into the BASIC Editor with
  29. the CSD set to that of the file. Just click on the icon to enter the BASIC
  30. Editor with no file loaded and the CSD unchanged
  31.  
  32. VDU - Drag a file onto this icon to show it on screen. Press SHIFT to scroll
  33. through the text.

  35. Speaker - Click on this icon to toggle the internal speaker status
  36.  
  37. CSD - Drag a file onto this icon to set the CSD to the one containing that
  38. file. Drag a directory or application onto it, and the CSD will be set
  39. inside that directory.

  42. Customisation
  43. -------------
  44. Edit the line inside the !Run file inside the application to show what icons
  45. you which to appear on load up. i.e. Append to the Run <Suite$Dir>.!RunImage
  46. the suffixes which correspond to the icons - BIN - Bin icon
  47.                                              SET - Set-Type icon
  48.                                              BAS - BASIC Editor icon
  49.                                              VDU - VDU icon
  50.                                              SPE - Internal speaker icon
  51.                                              CSD - Set CSD icon

  53. Also, whilst the program is running, clicking menu on any of the icons will
  54. show a menu containing 'Info', 'Show' and 'Quit. Going to the 'Show'
  55. sub-menu allows you to alter which icons are shown.

  64. Other programs
  65. --------------
  66. I am often writing programs for the Archimedes, and I have already written a
  67. number of programs. These include : !Obey - constantly shows the system
  68.                                         variable <Obey$Dir>. Useful for
  69.                                         keeping the icon virus under
  70.                                         control.
  71.                                     !Compare - compares two given files.
  72.                                     !Suite - one program which acts as a
  73.                                         suite of utilities, including a
  74.                                         Desktop bin, a Set-Type utility, a
  75.                                         BASIC editor front end, a VDU
  76.                                         utility (to look at a file without
  77.                                         loading a text editor), speaker (to
  78.                                         allow you to toggle the internal
  79.                                         speaker on/off), set CSD (to change
  80.                                         the currently selected directory).
  81.                                         Allows you to choose which icons you
  82.                                         wish to appear on the icon bar,
  83.                                         whilst running and on startup.
  84.                                     !Diary - a diary program, which allows
  85.                                         you to repeat a given entry on a
  86.                                         Daily, Weekly, Monthly or Yearly
  87.                                         basis.
  88.                                     !CFSAid - a program to assist in the use
  89.                                         of Compression, from Computer
  90.                                         Concepts. It decompresses any file
  91.                                         which takes up more space
  92.                                         'compressed' than it would normally.
  93.                                     !HiScores - a database to keep track of
  94.                                         high scores for up to 100 games. It
  95.                                         allows you to keep track of highest,
  96.                                         second highest, and third highest
  97.                                         scores, and re-orders the scores as
  98.                                         applicable when a new score is
  99.                                         entered.
  100.                                     !Cheats - keeps track of cheats for
  101.                                         games.

  104. Registering
  105. -----------
  106. To register, send ú5 to me, at the address shown below, stating what version
  107. of which programs you have. You can enclose your own disk for the programs,
  108. and if you do so you can deduct ú1 from the price. Registering entitles you
  109. to upgrade to later versions of the same programs and to get new programs
  110. for the price of ú1.
